500 supporters help Cal kick off U.S. Senate Race

It was great to see over 500 supporters turn out for Cal’s hometown campaign kick-off event in Lexington last night. It felt like a big family gathering, and Cal even led folks in singing Happy Birthday to a member of his staff. He spoke directly with the community that helped to raise him and reiterated his commitment to work on their behalf in the U.S. Senate for a prosperous economy, better schools, and a restoration of American values abroad.

Cal’s message about going to Washington to be a strong voice for North Carolinians, create jobs, and restore innovation to our badly-hurt economy moved the crowd to their feet repeatedly. And on the same day I got word about the dramatic tightening of the race in the poll by Public Policy Polling, which I see was already posted about here.

It’s good to be a part of this campaign when I see the confidence that Cal inspires in people who have known him all his life.

Good show

Good to see that hometown papers can treat Democrats as favorite sons. Nice work.
