8th District electoral craziness

The Prophet Tim sues his opponent for blasphemy:

Flanked by lawyers, Harold Johnson on Tuesday denounced a lawsuit by rival Tim D'Annunzio as "embarrassing and frivolous" as the war of words between the two Republican congressional candidates continued to escalate.

D'Annunzio sued Johnson for defamation Monday in Cumberland County Superior Court.

And it looks like D'Annunzio is bringing his fight to the comments section again:

Sorry stalkers. Would love to play, but apparently every factual thing I say about some old guy from Iredell County gets deleted by the liberal Charlotte Observer. Why do you Kissell boys think that is?

I'm not sure if that's him, but his fellow commenters seem top be sure.

And on the Democratic side of the 8th, the North Carolina First Party has riled the NCDP by focusing its efforts on obtaining enough signatures to get former Kissell employee Wendell Fant on the ballot:

Party leaders contend voters in the 8th Congressional District that paid representatives of the group North Carolina First aren't explaining when they go door-to-door that they're trying to put another candidate on the ballot to challenge Democrat incumbent Larry Kissell.

Instead, they've been saying the petition is for "better jobs," according to Andrew Whalen, the party's executive director, citing media reports and phone calls from Democrats in the district who have received knocks on their doors.

And just to round things out, a few words from the Libertarian candidate Thomas Hill:

Our nation cannot survive under our current fiat monetary system. The Treasury Department, in concert with the evil Federal Reserve, has debased our currency. The U.S. dollar is on the verge of collapse. I support competing currencies, backed by gold, silver and other valuable commodities.

Which gives me an excuse to post this Ron Paul dollar:

That is just plain funny, right there. :)
