A Brief But Timely Guide To Misogyny

This isn't my essay, and, for the record, I'm supporting Edwards in the primary, but I thought this was so well written and articulated so clearly what a lot of us have been seeing -- for years now -- in press and on blogs about Hillary, that I thought I'd share it.

In fact, I strongly recommend it. Now if only I could get a primer on how to make these links work . . . Meanwhile, here's the link (I hope)
Here's the link

I fixed it for you and you were very close!

I'm pretty sure Lance made a FAQ for links. Let me know if that isn't helpful and we'll get you all learned up!

Thanks Betsy~!

it's awful how long I've been staring right at something I was looking for!

Well....when all the other design details are ironed out

I'm thinking the FAQ needs a more prominent link.

You had everything right until the end.

Just make sure you close the first part of the code with the > and then add the language you want to be the actual link and then after that language you close your tag. You were missing the < on the closed tag. If I can learn html, anybody can learn it. :)

I recommend that everyone follow that link.

It's an excellent essay - accurately describing what women are still facing today if they try to run for office.

I ran into some of the very same kinds of things when I thought about running for Chair of our county party last year. I was told - by several men and several women that I was too blunt, too much like a man in that way, and that I'd never get elected. I was sufficiently intimidated into seeking a lower office. Sometimes I wish I hadn't done that. Ah well.

Read the essay.

I’m offering here a quick overview of three of the most common breed of misogynists infesting both the online and offline world. Most women of a certain age will probably recognize them. As for younger women, if you haven’t met all of these yet, don’t get too complacent. Eventually you will.

Be the change you wish to see in the world. --Gandhi

Thanks for this.

A good time to reprise something I wrote a year or so ago.

Dear women.

How does this apply to Marshall Adame?

I saw this reference to an excellent essay after just after posting a concern about supporting Marshall Adame (currently the lead story on BlueNC), specifically about his desire to require parental approval for abortions for women 17 and younger.

I'm wondering why progressive groups in NC so often neglect issues of reproductive rights and general support for women in their agendas?

How does this apply?

Care to elaborate on this sweeping generalization?

I almost said that too.

Are we a progressive group?

:)

I'm glad you posted this

It easy to gloss over some issues in a state where every inch of every battle against the Dark Side is hard fought. But you're right to raise this point.

Perhaps Adame can be brought to rethink his position. I've found him to be an eager listener and a strong supporter of women.

Marshall Adame is new to politics. But as a retired Marine of Hispanic heritage, he has a unique view into his Congressional district. Most of his ideas seem eminently sane to me, especially in comparison to Walter Jones.

All that said, he's wrong on this issue. A blanket prohibition against young women having abortions without parental consent is dangerous.

Don't you just love transparency?
