A retraction to "Because you Demanded it"

I'm not proud of it but I will admit when I've made a mistake. And a few post ago when I compared Elizabeth Dole to "The Invisible Woman" I was unfair...to Sue Storm. At the time I felt the comparison of Senator Dole was a bit forced, while the Invisible Woman seemed an invincible choice on a superficial level, when you get down to the actual character that is Sue Storm the comparison wasn't really there. I had tried for a while to come up with a character that really matched up better with Senator Dole but I was stumped. Then the other day while I was driving it him me.

So now replacing my earlier post of "What Comic Character would Senator Dole be..."

The answer is simple, Elizabeth Dole would clearly be "Mom" CEO of "Mom's Friendly Robot Company" and along with Richard Nixon's head one of the main villains from the oh too short lived but soon to return Futurama. For those unfamiliar with the show it was a production of Matt Groening (creator of The Simpsons) and David X. Cohen. It featured an average slacker pizza delivery boy who is frozen on New Years Eve of 2000 and wakes up a thousand years later. The show was prematurely cancelled by FOX (who seem to make it their goal in life to produce only to prematurly cancel great shows, oh and spread disinformation). Like Family Guy (which it was actually far better than), thanks to DVD sales and highly rated reruns on cable Futurama will thankfully soon be returning to a television near you.

On the show most companies in the future are a subsidiary of Momcorp, a company built upon the persona of 'Mom' who's friendly image as a wholesome elderly mother archtype is the bedrock of her brand. In reality though this facade hides 'Mom's' true colors as a ruthless and amoral business woman, seeking world domination (think Lex Luther but an old woman who curses at random).

So thinking of "Mom" the other day it hit me, who would she be if she were alive today? It's obvious:

Im hesitant

Mom seemed like she was incredibly effective as CEO. Does Elizabeth Dole actually do anything?

An effective CEO...

who's plots are usually foiled by a senile old man, a pizza deliver boy, a robot, a cycloptic ship captain, and a lobster man (usually without them knowing or meaning to)? Doesn't sound that effective to me.

Ha...Zoidberg.

It's still a waay better comparison than Sue Storm.

you have made your point

I defer to you on all future matters of Dole's likeness or lack of to cartoons.

Great point.

I tried to find a picture that better matched the one of mom...
