Barack Obama Reggae SongJust in time for the weekend, it's Jamaican Reggae star Cocoa Tea's Obama Jam! Finally something to replace that funereal "Yes We Can" on the ol' iPod... |

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him. As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him." |
Big day tomorrow...
Was with best friend and his wife and 8-mo. old baby for the past week...and I'm exhausted. She's one of the happiest and cutest babies I've seen, but just a few days living with a baby makes me think seriously about all my birth control options...ironically, we watched "Juno" on my last day there.
Going to sleep early, have to get ready for the almost 3 hour drive awaiting me to the 8th District convention, and try to campaign as hard as I can to be a Clinton delegate. It would make my year...
Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Let us know what happens.
Good luck to you too!
Now get some sleep.

Shut Yo' (Fly) Trap
I bought a Venus Fly Trap for the kids today at the Piedmont Triad Farmer's Market. They were thrilled to find them there, and to find out that they are a native NC plant. We love going to the farmer's market and try to do as much shopping there as possible. I think it follows the be nice, do good, have fun philosophy....
Dave Matthews has an interesting perspective on supporting family farms..."You know, the way I see it, if we all choose to eat well and to support small farmers, then we can save the world, and if we choose not to, then we're just going to let it die. So it's all on the farmers, and it's all on how we take care of the planet, and I really believe that to the very bottom of my heart that every farm should be run by a family. It should be run by people who love the earth. You can't eat money. I mean, I suppose you could, but you'd probably get constipated or something, you know."
In Mexico right now.
Puerto Vallarta, to be exact. I had a marathon 8-hour layover in Mexico City on Saturday, and I got to the hotel at 11 PM. Since I slept 2 hours the night before, I woke up at 1:30 yesterday (Sunday), did a stationary bike ride in the gym, did a stint in the pool, and laid out and got nice and sunburned. (Damn my British and Irish genetics) Tomorrow (or today, I suppose), I start the debauchery.
Let the games begin!
