America the beautiful? Not.

This video was posted today on the Big Orange Satan and I thought it was worth trying to embed here for others to see. If my technique isn't good, I'll just post the link.

As you watch, keep in mind the apparent GOP nominee...Mittens Romney...would like to do away with all taxes on capital gains and dividends and interest. Since capital gains are already taxed at a max of only 15% as opposed to the usually 25% or more on sweat-earned income this is just another ploy to further screw the 80% of Americans who have only about 7% of the wealth while placing a kevlar lining in the pockets of the already sticking-it-to-us ultra wealthy.

I often shake my head in amazement as people I know or encounter, who themselves are getting screwed every day by policies and laws favoring the wealthy, continue to blather "conservative" drivel. If you get out in the countryside around here and take a look at how some folks are living, it's not hard to imagine they're eating road-kill to keep body and soul together. Yet, on the back of the rusty old pickups they're driving will be bumper stickers proclaiming support for the very people and policies that are aligned to keep their wages low and deny them access to affordable medical care...etc., etc.

My conservative "friends" (and I have one or two...we just don't talk politics)...would likely say about those poor people, "well that dumb-shit likely didn't finish high school, or he's lazy...or prolly smokes dope...or any of a number of reasons why it's his/he own damn fault...and, screw 'em...why should society help them? Then I realize these "conservatives" are the same people who like dog fights or mindlessly throw an unwanted litter of kittens in the pond...or at least don't see anything wrong with that...and worse.

And so, to all you "conservatives" out there,...all you cold-hard-logic-as-long-as-it's-not-me-or-mine-in-the-crapper... I think a day is rapidly approaching when you're gonna have to do more than talk tough. Too many good people are getting a belly-full. And there's more of them than you.

I'm sure all the American exceptionalists

will say you're an unpatriotic scumbag for not believing all their happy horseshit about how the free markets have made us such a great country. But you're right as rain ... and I appreciate you posting this. The first step in recovering from our cultural abyss is acceptance of the fact that we are indeed swirling down the toilet.

For the "how to" and the comment.

As I travel by car on errands I often listen to "the Big Talker" FM which is mostly conservative talk shows hosted by the likes of Neal Boortz and Sean Hannity. Their motto is "broadcasting to the greatest nation on earth." When I get home I take a shower and a jigger of brain-bleach. I've can't imagine a more pathetic bunch of sub-humans than the people who call in raving about the lazy, unwashed, hippy OWS people who only want a hand-out and won't take a job until their unemployment $$$ disappear....and so on. Then, Clark Howard comes on and his show is often devoted to the many scams being perpetrated on trusting citizens, the effects of the lack of financial regulation, and why people shouldn't do business with the mega-banks...and so on. It's an amazing dichotomy...that the station never seems to grasp. Then again, maybe they do and just hope their audience is too stupid to get it.
