And Suddenly, Robin Hayes Cares
Funny thing, I go to check the mail today, and it seems that Robin Hayes has sent out the first flier of his re-election bid. Even funnier, it seems he's claiming that he ACTUALLY cares about his constituents.
I doubt I need to say much more on it, as I'm sure you'll all have a good time of picking it apart, so I'll leave you to that. He seems to be trying the reverse tactic from 2006: instead of consistently lying about my opponent, I'll just lie about all the "good" deeds I've done in my congressional career.
It has four pages: a front, two inside pages, and a back, all full of love for the eighth district by our fatherly congressman, let me assure you.
I did manage to scan it for you, but I will apologize for the quality as my scanner isn't the best:
- Front
- Inside, first page.
- Inside, second page.
- Back
The final thing I have to say is that I find it amusing that the name this flier was addressed to was not my mother (the registered Republican) or my father (the registered Independent), but to my sister (the 21-year-old registered Republican). I'm not sure why that is, but it seems he's trying to show off his new techno-savvy website to a more technologically-oriented generation that tends to trend left.
(P.S. - Don't worry, I got ALL of my family to vote for Larry in 2006, as I'm only 16, and obviously unable to vote, and I will get them ALL to vote for Larry again in 2008.)

Excellent diary
Spot on. Thank you for providing us scans of the mailer. I'll get my mother's if he left her on the mailing list. (Registered Dem, but in the district)
I said either in a comment somewhere or in a Robin Hayes diary, that the only campaign tactic he had left to try was to go positive. Heh...looks like he figured that out himself. It would be interesting to know if this was something he paid to send out or something we paid for him to send out. (franking)
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

I just took at look
That mailer was sent out at taxpayer expense. That is nothing but fluff. Please make sure you keep it. What specific issue did he address? Nothing....
Waste of taxpayer money. Think of those out of work in the 8th District who could have been helped if that chunk of taxpayer change had maybe been put toward retraining them for high tech jobs.
Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Yup, you can see a frank on the last page.

Got one too...
My wife received the same mailer (she's registered unaffiliated) and all of us paid for this through our taxes.

So, what's the deal,
he only cares about you (sends a flyer at taxpayer's expense) if your a Republican?

hmm
18 by election day? Gonna be one of the 330?

Unfortunately, no. Election
Unfortunately, no. Election Day is November the 2nd, I turn 18 on November the 16th, exactly two weeks after. :(
Drat it.
But heck, I'd say if you got your family to vote for a Democrat, you're a valuable voter already and your age won't stop you from canvasing any place you like. I wish I'd known my own mind at that age. You're great!
