Another Great Decider

Another Great Decider

Like George Bush, John McCain is known for taking risks and making quick decisions. One of the most recent example of such decision making gave us Sarah Palin as his running mate. Now he is taking a pass from the beating he was getting from the Obama campaign while all the attention is focused on Palin.

Given this reputedly courageous decision, everyone is now supposed to accept her without criticism or even questions, just as she is protrayed by the party. Meanwhile, it is clear that his campaign does not trust this great selection to ride on her own without training wheels. They will not allow her to be interviewed or scrutinized up close by the "hostile" media except under tightly controlled circumstances. What reporter worthy of the name except Charles Gibson would agree to such conditions?

So we are blessed with a decider who is not afraid to gamble and trust his gut. McGain has done it again and it resulted in: Palin? A person he is comfortable being a heart-beat away from the presidency who is nothing more than a knee jerk conservative with all the intellectual depth of a lid. Before trusting his gut, the guy needs to learn the difference between gut instincts and gas!.

I think the country has been here before with all this gut stuff masquerading as leadership. It is not leadership. It is a lack of judgement that we are witnessing --- again!

We will soon know just how stupid the American electorate really is. McCain's counting on "dumb as shit." Obama's sights are set a bit higher. I hope he's not misreading American ignorance.

Thanks for your comment. I too hope Obama is playing his cards correctly. I fear he is not hitting back hard enough and directly enough and doing it in great sound bites. I worry about this country if we elect a Bush clone --even a self-styled maverick!

The main optimism I have is

that Obama ran a brilliant primary campaign and has masterminded a well-run organization. I trust his judgment.

The main pessimism is that the general electorate has no capacity for processing the reality in the world around them. So, yeah, I worry too.

The Republican rant is so bad

that I do not to even watch the so-called the wimps that pass for reporters these days. As in the last pres election, I am getting my news from John Stuart. At least he has a sense of humor and is willing to explode a lie when he sees one.

Despite all, I am hopeful; but like you I worry about trusting an electorate who gave us Bush a second time.
