Another Letter to Senator Hagan. Public Healthcare Plan.
I wrote to Senator Kay Hagan today and will be following up with a call on Monday regarding the Healthcare Reform that Congress is currently screwing up debating. I thought I would be another BlueNC member to share my letter with you all in case it helps you to gather your thoughts or give you some new ideas as to what to say to the Senator when YOU write and call her.
Dear Senator Hagan,
I am writing today to give you my thoughts on the ongoing discussion about Healthcare Reform and the opportunity to attempt to level the playing field for the people of North Carolina.
Senator Hagan, we need a public option in THIS year's bill. Let me explain why that is a simple fact. For many years we who are luckily covered by employer provided health insurance have seen the cost of our health insurance skyrocket, we've seen the amount of the deductibles skyrocket and if we manage to ever reach the point of an on average $5000.00 deductible, we've had to fight tooth and nail to get the insurance companies to actually pay out to our providers. It is insane, Senator Hagan, and is becoming more so each day.
It has come to the point to where I believe that the only reason the name Health Insurance even exists is because the term "Ponzi Scheme" was already taken. Please, Senator Hagan. Insist on a public plan this year that will compete with private business. Insist on a public plan that is easily administered and is also affordable.
Senator Hagan, something has to give. I just know that if we do not allow competition with the private insurance corporations that we will very likely continue down the same road to disaster that health care is on today. Besides, we are sacrificing so much already, and that is those of us that are actually covered by the ponzi scheme. Think of all those millions that are not and have no ability to be covered.
Again, Senator Hagan, I implore you to please do what is right for your constituents and insist on competition from a public plan to go up against the private plans. I'm actually shocked to see those on the other side of the aisle, who always shout and yell about business competition and are now working as hard as they can to cut out competition. It's not about big government. It's about big corporation and donation. We all know.
Thank you Senator. If it helps any, I did contribute to your campaign and worked hard to get others to do so and to see you elected Senator this last year. We believed in you then and I believe you will do the right thing for us now.
Best regards,
My Name

Keep calling and writing. Please ask your family members, friends, enemies, dogs and cats, etc. to do so as well. This is too important an issue and if we don't get it right at this time, we may never have another opportunity, at least in our lifetimes.
