Are N&O reporters just pretending to be clueless?
John Frank, Lynn Bonner, Rob Christensen. Come on, guys. The flap over Governor Perdue's joke about neverending political campaigns is beneath you. Kudos to Chris Mackey for calling you out.
"Come on," said spokeswoman Chris Mackey in a statement. "Gov. Perdue was obviously using hyperbole to highlight what we can all agree is a serious problem: Washington politicians who focus on their own election instead of what's best for the people they serve."
Mackey could have been more succinct: "What's with you people? Are you freakin' crazy?"
Give 'em hell, Governor Perdue. You're the only person standing in the way of North Carolina turning into a second-rate Alabama.

Those folks...
don't really have a sense of humor.
They knew Bev was joking
They'd just screwing with her, feeding the rabid right some fresh meat. Time was, they'd have been fired for pulling stunts like this.

Hmmmm
That may be the headline somewhere, but it's not the headline Under the Dome, where the following was written:
Unclear? Bullshit. This is a hit job pure and simple.

Here is a working link to the original, with jokes as the verb.

Maybe they changed the headline. Here is a link with the original headline that Jake Tapper tweeted about and linked to. The tiny url did not transfer well with the cut and paste. Try this one.
Thanks.
That's helpful.
As we know, reporters don't write headlines (or at least they didn't used to), so whatever the headline was, it came from the keyboard of an editor.
Unfortunately, it's the story that's the problem.
There's no way she was serious about this. It's a hit job and the three reporters who share the byline for this story know it.
I believe Bev can turn this to her advantage. Pat McCrory is running and running and running and running for office. Every move of his is calculated to pander to some group or another. We need more governing and less campaigning. That's why the governor is focused on jobs instead of distractions.
Truth is, however, she could use those distractions to advantage as well.
For starters, I'd like to see her come out squarely and adamantly against Amendment One. Draw bright lines and defend them without flinching. Don't we have enough real problems without Republicans manufacturing more just so they can game the elections process?
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
The director of PPP says it would help her.

Not only would it help her
it would also be the right thing to do.
