The bigotry of Burr and Ellmers

Could there possibly be two members of Congress who are more irrelevant, vile, divisive, and generally fucked-up than Dick Burr and Renee Ellmers? Their ongoing crusade to name a federal office building after North Carolina's legendary racist Senator No continues to boggle the mind.

An invitation to domestic terrorists?

This sort of thumbing your nose at African Americans and others who have devoted their lives to civil rights is, quite possibly, the most damnable thing I've seen either of these two "leaders" do. How could any thinking person intentionally pursue such a divisive, bone-headed plan?

A very senior business executive once told me that the measure of a true leader in the 21st century is the extent to which people of all shapes, sizes, ethnicity, gender, religious orientation, sexual orientation, class, and race seek out and emulate the leader. That's the standard i use to conclude that Burr and Ellmers are, arguably, the most fucked-up "leaders" in Congress.

If Burr and Ellmers succeed with this plan, the Jesse Helms building will most assuredly attract the attention of a Timothy-McVeigh wannabe ... and who would blame them?

One wonders sometimes...

"If Burr and Ellmers succeed with this plan, the Jesse Helms building will most assuredly attract the attention of a Timothy-McVeigh wannabe ... and who would blame them?"

...if that isn't part of the plan....?

Or maybe it's an intentional distraction

Create a situation they know will draw the ire of civil rights organizations, so they won't be paying as much attention elsewhere.

The problem is, the other degradations are so numerous it's hard to figure out which ones they're trying to hide.
