BlackOut-NC Is Making a List
From the News and Observer, December 4th: "Although vote-counting is difficult, the conventional wisdom among lawmakers and lobbyists is that Black has 23 or 24 votes of the 68 Democrats -- and no other Democrat has even close to that total."
BlackOut-NC is trying to figure out who the 23 or 24 pro-Jim Black Democrats are and which 44 or 45 are willing to shift the paradigm in Raleigh. Contact your representative to ask if she/he will commit to voting for anybody but Jim Black for Speaker of the House, then go leave the name, district, and disposition in a comment section at BlackOut-NC or email them at ethicalgov A T yahoo D o T com.

Here's one for the Dark Side
Bill "Not my job" Owens of Pasquotank, will go to his grave supporting the Sneaker.
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
I just emailed.....
Goforth. When I get his response I will post it here and at BlackOut-NC.

I suppose that many Democrats would be willing to admit publicly they plan to vote for someone besides Black only if they are assured that he is gonna lose. Otherwise, the payback could be hell - no one wants to be on the wrong side of the new speaker.
I believe he's gotta be a strong "No"
But what really surprises me is how people are so afraid of Jim Black. Sickening.

my rep wont support "Squeeker Black"
My Representative is a republican, (sorry) so he won't be supporting Black for "Squeeker" of the House.
My rep won't support Black
b/c he's running for the speaker job himself

Tuesday tidbits
According to Chris Fitzsimon, Jim Black is having a meeting tonight at a north Raleigh restaurant with his House Democratic Caucus supporters to let them know his plans. Tuesday tidbits
Interesting
...but I don't want him to have a hand in picking his successor. He could pick the nicest, smartest, most honest, most decent person on earth and that person would be tainted by Black's endorsement.
Uh.oh. I've been hanging around Anglico too long. :)

No successor yet
Black still aims to have control over his successor
Nooooot exactly
He plans to be involved in choosing his successor.
He can no longer bring in the big bucks, he's no longer speaker. I don't think he can control anyone. Now, he can help choose someone too much like him. I still say we need to send emails/letters/faxes to our Dem reps.
