Survey: Veterans Affairs needs more money

By Chris Roberts / El Paso Times

Problems identified in an American Legion survey of Veterans Affairs medical centers three years ago were caused mainly by a lack of money and the most recent survey shows little has changed, according to an El Paso resident who was on the national panel that administered the survey.

Insufficient staffing leads to long waiting lists for clinics, pharmacies and specialty care, said retired Lt. Col. John McKinney, from El Paso, who surveyed 26 VA medical care facilities for the 2006 report. The report, due to be published this month, is provided to VA officials and to every member of Congress.

Senator Snows Bio

Biography
In his first term representing North Carolina's 50th Senate District , John Snow has earned a reputation as a thoughtful, principled, and effective legislator. Even though only in his first term he is a leader who speaks his conscience and gets things done for both the State and the 50th district.
After spending over thirty years as a Judge, Senator Snow brings an experienced and reasoned voice to the Justice and Public Safety debates that the Senate engages in. He has been a strong and consistent voice for protecting the public by working for tougher new laws against methamphetamine makers and for providing resources for more education, awareness, and treatment programs. In addition to this Senator Snow has worked hard to provide more funding to local law enforcement and rescue personnel for the important work that they do. Senator Snow has also been a leader in the fight against those that commit crimes against children with his sponsorship of Jessica's Law which provides significantly tougher penalties for sex offenders and Rachel's Law which provides much harsher penalties for criminals who commit reckless violence with weapons.

John Snow, NC-50 has open ear!

Evidently , Mr. Ken McKim ,who is attempting to oust State Senator John Snow-D-R-50, doesn’t take the time to talk to the voters of the 50th. Recently, he made some untrue statements about the Senator which I addressed in a LTE to the Local paper.

While reading the article about the Graham County GOP meeting in the August 3rd edition of the Graham Star, I could not help but notice an inaccurate statement by the Republican canadate for state senate.

He is quoted as saying he would be more accessible than our Senator, John Snow. Simply put, No one is more accessible to our District than John Snow is.

The Madness of King George!!

Besides not really feeling well over the last week or so it seems as if I've had a kind of writers block to contend with. Just a general disinterest or lack of ideas we could call it. I don't know why, I guess just because I've felt under the weather. Of course , It could be the thought of the results of King George's war in Iraq which have been making me feel bad. It Seem's a madness has come over King George. Although some of us here in the 11th District think it could just be a old fashoned case of "Chainsaw Charlieitis". BUT, Paying the bill for King George's war in Iraq, This subject is just to important to pass up! So lets look at some of the effects that have resulted from our involvement there.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
