Jackson County Subdivision Moratorium - Setting the Record Straight

A Jackson Countian's response to today's John Locke Foundation article blasting the county's efforts to implement effective conrtrols on second home development.

Jackson Co. Subdivision Hearing Tonight

The Jackson County commissioners will hold a public hearing tonight on a subdivision development moratorium. Anti-moratorium development interests have spent thousands to assure a big turnout. They have notified law enforcement that the roads near the hearing site will be lined with big work trucks in a show of force. The county has arranged to run shuttle buses to bring people to the community college, where the hearing was moved to accommodate the large crowds expected. Emotions are running at a fever pitch, and officials are very concerned about maintaining order tonight.

The Lead-Up to Iraq - A Rosy View

Documents recently obtained by the National Security Archive (under the Freedom of Information Act) reveal that in August 2002, U.S. Central Command’s war plan anticipated that only 5000 American troops would be left in Iraq as of December 2006. General Tommy Franks’ commanders assumed that U. S. forces would be almost completely re-deployed OUT of Iraq within 45 months of the invasion.

Jackson County Moving Toward Subdivision Regulations
