Pat Buchanan Delivers a "Brief for Whitey"

After reading the outrage, indignant outrage by both the right and the Hillary supporters Pat Buchanan steps into the mix. Our past Chair, George Wilson sent this article to me asking why Buchanan gets a pass from the MSM?

Reading the article you can see that Buchanan actually listened to Obama, I was almost encouraged. But how can a leader of the Christian community, interpret the message in this offensive manner?

What is wrong with Barack's prognosis and Barack's cure?

Jerry Meek, the North Carolina Democratic Party’s Chair was the guest speaker and four candidates for office were working the crowd.

Bobbie Burrell, the outgoing President welcomed everyone, offering the candidates an opportunity to speak “a sentence or two” about themselves.

Is AMEX in Dire Straights?

Last week a representative from American Express called our controller to thank us for spending $1 million last year.

This week, for no good reason, they have limited us to $25,000.00.

Congressman David Price Asks, If Not US than Who?

The New York Times reported today that F.B.I. Says Guards Killed 14 Iraqis Without Cause

Federal agents investigating the Sept. 16 episode in which Blackwater security personnel shot and killed 17 Iraqi civilians have found that at least 14 of the shootings were unjustified and violated deadly-force rules in effect for security contractors in Iraq, according to civilian and military officials briefed on the case.

Earlier this year, Congressman David Price, a Democrat from the NC 4th district pushed a provision that was included in the Defense Bill. The bill provides more “transparency and accountability in the government’s use of armed contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan.” The Price provision would strengthen this bill and enable Congress with the ability to provide more oversight of these contractors.

Today on WUNC radio, Catherine Brand interviewed Congressman Price about the letter he sent to Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice asking for further inquiry into the incident. ( listen to the full interview here ) In the interview, Con. Price asks, “ If it turns out that Sec. Rice is not able to prosecute this case, do we cede jurisdiction to the Iraqi courts? We’ll be credible only if we have some way of bringing these people justice. Assuming that the investigation will provide that this is a prosecutable case, if not, the problem remains to be addressed at a later date…..If it turns out that they are not subject to US Civilian law, what are they subject to?”

Congressman Price ended the interview with this opinion, “If the investigation does reveal that the Blackwater contractors were in the wrong what will happen? In the past they would be fired and expelled from Iraq, this is not good enough for this case. The Iraqi government is asserting itself by saying we’re going to take charge of this. It doesn’t play into the suspension that these contract personnel are trigger happy, been shooting up crowds of civilians. Unfortunately reinforcing that narrative has the potential to jeopardize our mission and our troops.”

Autism and Slavery

In his early years, it was difficult to find decent daycare for Alex. Before he was properly diagnosed with Autism, daycare centers and preschools would take him for a day, maybe a week before they would call my daughter and advise her that they couldn't handle him. Although they often were set up for disabled kids in wheel chairs or for those who were blind, they couldn't provide the one on one care that Alex so desperately needed.

Is This How We "Support The Troops"?

Our young men and women join the military to protect America. Almost to the person they say that anywhere they are stationed in either Iraq or Afghanistan is the battle front.

We hear it on the news, we read about it in our newspapers, our soldiers are being maimed and killed by the number one weapon of choice, the IED (Improvised explosive device). When they come home for treatment, whether it is for battle wounds or PTSD, they are not given the best care that money can buy. Instead, they are being treated as second class citizens and "thrown away".

From The Nation....Veterans' Health-Care System Does NOT "Support The Troops"

A House Veterans' Affairs Committee hearing on Wednesday reviewed the 544-page commission report which details how unresponsive the executive branch and military are to veteran's medical needs. James Terry Scott, chairman of the independent commission, said at the hearing that there is a lack of expertise among clinicians in army hospitals and that veterans frequently receive inadequate medical advice, especially concerning posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

A new tactic by the military is to claim that PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) is a "pre-exisisting condition". From The Nation.... "How Specialist Town Lost His Benefits"

Eventually the rocket shrapnel was removed from Town's neck and his ears stopped leaking blood. But his hearing never really recovered, and in many ways, neither has his life. A soldier honored twelve times during his seven years in uniform, Town has spent the last three struggling with deafness, memory failure and depression. By September 2006 he and the Army agreed he was no longer combat-ready.

NY Times Reports "Blackwater Likely to be out of Iraq"

Although Rice will have the final say, the feeling is that they won't be fired outright, but "eased out". The mantra continues that no U.S. Diplomat has been killed in their care. I'd still like to know how many U. S. Diplomats were killed in the care of the U. S. Marines who traditionally guarded them.
