A masterpiece, fierce, strong, meaty, best convention speech since Kennedy, 44 minutes of fireworks, were the reactions of pundits immediately following Obama’s historic acceptance speech, “America’s Promise.”

"I have come here tonight to stand with you to change America, to restore its future, to rise to our best ideals and to elect Barack Obama president of the United States," Senator Ted Kennedy roared as he appeared before the Democratic National Convention.

"Teddy" as Caroline affectionately referred to him during her introduction is battling brain cancer but is not giving up the good fight. "The dream lives on!" Kennedy told us tonight.

Isn’t it enough that voters had to endure one “Law and Order” candidate, Republican Fred Thompson?

Patrick McCrory, NC Republican candidate for Governor, opened up Saturday’s Gubernatioral debate by repeatedly asking why North Carolina can’t be more like the teevee shows, “CSI” and “Law Order.” Lauding teevee shows for providing “DNA test results in minutes,” McCrory complained that North Carolina District Attorneys can’t afford to shop at Neiman Marcus:

“On Law and Order, the District Attorneys are dressed like they shop at Neiman Marcus.”

Currently, North Carolina Shores are protected from off shore drilling by a Federal Moratorium:

The waters became fully protected by the moratorium in the fall of 2000 when Conoco gave up the last of the leases for exploration in the Manteo Exploration Unit, a group of federally leased blocks of submerged land lying about 45 miles off Cape Hatteras. Conoco had owned five leases for the submerged lands in the unit, and shared three others with Shell and Occidental Petroleum Corp. Chevron, Mobil and Marathon gave up or sold their leases earlier in 2000. None of the companies ever undertook exploration in the area.

Barack Obama kicked off his general election campaign in Raleigh, NC on Monday, an indication that North Carolina will be a targeted state in the fall. Obama delivered a major speech on the economy at the NC Fairgrounds, marking the beginning of a two-week tour through the state, focusing on Economic Policy.

During his speech, Obama went into full general election mode, launching a direct hit on McCain’s Economic policy, calling it a “full throated endorsement of Bush’s Policies.”

A couple of weeks ago, I attended the South Carolina Presidential Candidate “Debate” as a credentialed blogger and had the opportunity to talk for a minute with Mudcat Saunders, after the debate.

Mudcat Saunders got involved in political campaigns when he helped Mark Warner win over 51% of the rural vote, in his 2001 race for governor in Virginia:

Strategist Mudcat Draws National Attention

"I went out for an egg sandwich one morning and ended up in the middle of a presidential campaign," Saunders told members of the Democratic National Committee's Southern Caucus last summer. "I still don't know how I got here."

Yesterday, I packed up my laptop, tripod and videocam and headed over to Chapel Hill to vLog John and Elizabeth Edwards' appearance on the Ed Schultz Show. It's always a double plus to see those two together! (It's apparent why their marriage has lasted 30 years). ;)

THE PLANE TRUTHS

I've come to the personal conclusion that I actually want the country to see who I am, who I really am. But I don't know what the result of that will be. But for me personally, I'd rather be successful or unsuccessful based on who I really am, not based on some plastic Ken doll that you put up in front of audiences."

First, there was a a lot of confusion about Robert's brown sweater, so I'm going to clear up that order of business, right now! ;) It really wasn't "brown" but light tan.

Now that we have “brown sweater” mystery cleared up…

As many of you already know, I’m an Edwards supporter, so I attend a lot of events in North Carolina where Senator or Mrs. Edwards will be appearing. In fact, I vlogged one of the campaign events Edwards did for Shuler and the event where Edwards stumped for Kissell. But, I hadn’t really planned on going to the Hardball event until I got a call letting me know that there were a few VIP tickets available for bloggers. VIP tickets for bloggers? Hmmm…that was something I thought I shouldn’t pass up, but reinforce with the Edwards’ camp that we, bloggers, are ready to take our place at the table.
