Marshall, NC’s first female secretary of state, announced her Senate candidacy today. Her claim to fame was defeating hero driver and misogynist Richard Petty 53% to 45% for her current post in 1996. She’s also tried for the Senate before and lost to Foreskine Bowles in the 2002 Dem primary.
