Dear Ms.Potter…. You seem to stay quite busy at your job and also not returning phone calls.

Now ,what I would like to know as would many other Vietnam Veterans within the 11th District is just why ,he chose to stay in school during the years of the most bloodiest conflict in history, The Vietnam War and while 58,442 of our Brothers died there.. Was he with sickness, That I can understand. BUT, was he just plain YELLOW and chicken sh_t of what mite happen to him? Many, others such as John McCain, John Snow and others served their time. Why couldn’t your boss?

Amid hopeful talk of the future, Rep. Charles Taylor and Russia's ambassador to the United States welcomed 20 Russian college students to western North Carolina to study business.

The young Russians, participating in a yearlong program at area colleges that is partially funded with federal money, sang a karaoke version of the Beatles'"Let It Be" and a Russian folk song last month. They even pulled Taylor and Ambassador Yuri Ushakov into an impromptu dance.

New Graham County Blog

Why Graham County Need's Mickey Anderson!

Why ,regardless of the fact that you may be a Democrat or Republican does Mickey Anderson need to be your Sheriff? Well, lets look at the situation shall we? First and foremost, Mickey is running against Republican Russell Moody currently employed for Graham Co. EMS.

Now lets review some facts of life and reality in this situation and see who you would want. Mickey Anderson has, and I can personally vouch for this as I have worked right beside him almost 30 years
Experience in Law Enforcement.

His opponent, Moody has, zero, none. All he is banking on is the fact that he is presently serving as Graham Co. Cornier. I guess the funeral home got tired of pronouncing folks dead. Of course to the trained eye it is not all that hard to do.

Can the Far West Survive?

Seriously folks of Graham County & the Far West, Can WE survive without Heath Shuler & John Snow! OK, That is a simple enough question to ask and the answer is simple also! NO!!!!!

There is no possible way the 11th Congressional District ,nor the 50th NC Senate District can survive without either! Folks, I have seen firsthand how life goes on in our section of this state! I have seen good folks having to suffer under the Republican yoke of Charles Taylor while Sen. Snow has been our only hope! I have personally seen and and know what it is to be like our disabled, they do not get all that much a month! I have seen and personally know not only young people but folks in their 40s all the way up thru their 50s who simply cannot get any kind of healthcare. I have a very, very close relative with Heart problems in their 50s who cannot receive help with getting in to see a Doctor or scripts filled.

NC Veterans, Wake Up! This should tell you to vote Democratic

Below is Larry Scott's latest article for Military.com.

Buying-Out Disabled VeteransPolitically-stacked Vets’ Commission looks at lump-sum buyouts of veterans’ disability payments by Larry Scott.
Fiscal conservatives called David Stockman “The Budget Wiz” and rallied ‘round his concept of a smaller government which was enshrined in his phrase, “Starving the Beast.” Stockman was the Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) during the Reagan administration and is well-remembered for labeling military retirement pay as “scandalous,” calling it a dangerous drain on the economy.

In praise of pessimism

I remember the November, 2004, like a deep, dull toothache. After months of hard work and more fundraising events than I ever thought possible, I made the mistake of getting my hopes up. I couldn't believe the American people could be so stupid as to fall for George Bullsh*t's lies again - and I actually had optimism about our collective future. That's a mistake I'm never going to make again.

Which is why I'm getting nervous with so many prognosticators writing about how vulnerable the Goopers are. Even when their logic is impeccable and completely well-reasoned, I'm not buying it. No matter who's painting the rosy picture.

Where is the Democratic Party?

Cross-posted on the Brock Log

As part of my research for articles written on the Onslow County Politics web-log, I've been reviewing financial disclosure reports. I found something really strange, too.

Neither the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) nor the North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) nor the Democratic National Committee have donated a single cent to Craig Weber's campaign.

Is John Hood Trying to Kiss and Make Up?

As I perused the online edition of my local fish-wrap, I noticed this in the opinion section.

Founding Fathers were bloggers

The piece was written by John Locke President (and BlueNC BFF) John Hood.

He opens with...

Well, OK, let me rephrase that. Many of the Founders were the 18th-century equivalent of a certain category of modern-day bloggers — writers on political topics, typically using a pen name, who are also connected to formal journalism and simultaneously active in partisan politics.
