Billy Kennedy to Consider 5th District Run
Received moments ago on Facebook!
Facebook Friends:
I have tracked the Draft Billy Kennedy group on Facebook and am deeply grateful for the attention and all the positive encouragement. I’ve been overwhelmed and honored by so many people asking me to run for the 5th district Congressional seat. Our district needs representation in Washington that is serious about the needs of people in our area, most especially jobs and future opportunities for ourselves and our children. In light of these hard times, it is not acceptable that our current legislator, Virginia Foxx, says “no” to every proposed solution while at the same time taking advantage of limited taxpayer dollars for her own needs. As for now, I am seriously considering my options. This is not something I can suddenly rush into without a lot of homework and planning, not to mention the support of my family and closest friends. I hope to have a concrete decision in the coming weeks and will certainly let all you good people know as soon as possible what my plans are. In the meantime, keep the faith that positive change can indeed come to our district.
Sincerely,
Billy Kennedy
Congratulations everyone, you started a movement. Now is not the time to bow out and stop working though. We have to fully convince Billy and the 5th district that he is the right person for the job. What can you do? Invite 10 people to the group, follow us on twitter @DraftBilly, put the group in your status, now is the time to unseat Foxx and your all a part of the movement.

Oh, great !
Looks like I am going to have to split the little I give to candidates between Brad Miller and Billy Kennedy if he does, in fact, take the plunge since the 5th is our sister district and, well, simply because of how embarrassing Virginia Foxx is as a representative of the State of NC.
Good news, hopefully.
Good job!

Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
This is great news
I grew up in the 5th district, and Rep Foxx does not accurately represent the people I know who live there, it is time for a change.
Here is the link to Billy's facebook group in case it hasn't been linked already:

Being a resident of the 5th, I would certainly look forward ...
to a good competitor for Foxx. I would offer a small correction, Foxx has never voted 'no' a any bills initiated by the oil industry, or 'free trade' bills. Since moving here in 2005, it astounds me that she has such strong support in this area.

Want some humor? And, want some very pointed opinions given about Virginia Foxx? Read this article posted on the Web.
The important thing to do is to scroll down and read the blog postings under the article. They're hilarious and when I read each one, I couldn't help but think "DAMN STRAIGHT!".
Thanks for that link, Foxtrot.....
I would find it hilarious, if it weren't so pathetic. I came to a 'stop' sign the other day, and the car ahead of me had a sticker on his bumper declaring that he's from "Foxx Country". How sad is that?
Gotta look at Steve Neal, denno
Steve Neal D-5th Congressional district for 20 years has to be an inspiration for us. He decided to retire after 10 terms representing the 5th district of NC (or what that included then), but he left us a legacy we really need to go back and look at. The 5th district now is 90% white and is arguably far more conservative than liberal politically. Steve Neal was successful for a number of reasons part of which was that he was a very good campaigner and part of knowing what the people in his district saw as important and represented those things well for them.
Richard Burr came into "power" there because of the 1994 surge for repubs and "Fugly Foxx" (sorry Lord, it just came out), after succeeding Burr, has been able to somehow keep her name in the news there and avoid any true depiction of how polarizing and narrow minded she is and has avoided a legitimate democratic challenge to her idiocy.
Hopefully, that's about to change. I like our chances now but it is going to take bucks, savvy campaigning and a great deal of support from many folks around our state and, hopefully, from our national party organization.
