Bringing back our economy

Okay, here is something I saw on an email. With the majority of the lawyers in either house of congress being democrats and the majority of the businesspeople in either house of congress being republicans, why should we not get the two together.

SAW IT ON EMAIL so take it for what it is worth. PLEASE do not go berserk trashing me for it.

Worth thinking about. I am sure there will be adequate disagreement about it.

Thanks, guys :)

Republican business people

They may be good at business - I'm willing to be convinced - but if the past eight years show anything, they show that Republicans suck at government.

Makes sense, no? At best, Replicants are good at making a profits at the expense of others and crushing competitors. Not exactly the kinder, gentler world most people envision.

Lawyers, on the other hand? You'd hope they'd be good at law.

PS I'm not sure the facts are correct, just pretending like they are.

Good points, for sure

Would it not be just absolutely great for our country (leaving out parties and one-up-manship and such) if the lawyers, with all their savvy and the business people, without their propensity for graft and corruption but knowledge of fiscal dealings and so forth to get together?

What a novel concept, huh?

I mean, do we elect our congresspeople and senators to D.C. to see which one can grab power or do we actually believe their campaign rhetoric and promises that is nearly ALWAYS to do the best for the american people?

Sure, we have two distinct political parties. And the repugs seem to be the ones that do everything they can to use whatever they can to keep progress from happening, but if we make it clear we expect them to WORK TOGETHER for "we the people" that actually elect them, maybe things will change.

I know, I know, I am just SO naive.

PS: Want to have bipartisanship? Why not have major bills co-sponsored by someone from each party after coming to agreement on each of those? No, I am not talking about huge government program kinds of bills, but bills/initiatives that can begin to solve some of our health care issues and bills that can get our people back to work and bills that can get our economy cranking back up again. Individual, incremental initiatives CO-SPONSORED by members of each party that can get past the in-fighting. Enough of the "politics of the past" and "politics as usual". Now is not the time for that.

Just a thought.
