Burr bets his ass on gutting health insurance reform

US Senate candidate Cal Cunningham today jumped on Burr's announcement with both feet, and I expect other candidates will do the same.

Richard Burr: “This is a health care bill no one wants and the people have been more vocal than about any bill I have seen in my political career,” he said.

Really, Senator Burr. You honestly think that "no one" wants this insurance reform? I know you're a frat-boy slacker from way back, but jeez, do you really have to project your delusions onto Obama? The only reason you're grabbing this issue is because of YOUR career. You've done nothing of note over in 16 long years in Congress, and the chickens are coming home to roost.

Game on. The November election will indeed be a referendum on health insurance reform. And you're going to get your ass kicked.

As I said before

but I think it bears repeating here, I think the President is right about something he's been saying a lot lately, at least in this case, good policy is good politics.

Opinions turn favorable on health care plan

WASHINGTON — Americans by 9 percentage points have a favorable view of the health care overhaul that President Obama signed into law Tuesday, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, a notable turnaround from surveys before the vote that showed a plurality against it.

"In the latest NEWSWEEK Poll, the majority of Americans are opposed to President Obama's health-care reform plan—until they learn the details."

Maybe the recent media coverage with its passing and signing has been more about what is in the bill (rather than say tea party protests) and maybe that has helped, or maybe people just like being on the winning side, but something seems to be making this measure gain in popularity.

On the March 17 the Presidents gallup approval rating was 46%, as of March 23 (the day the bill was signed into law) he's at 51%. It is probably too soon to tell if that is going any where, since hes been hovering around 50% forever, but I'm betting that people like a winner and like Democrats getting something done.

And a do nothing senator running only on unraveling the work that has been done, doesn't have a whole lot to run on IMO.
