Burr, Fetzer now on the wrong end of a calculated risk
I don't like being lied to. I believe when you get right down to it unless someone is complimenting your haircut or convincing you that those sunglasses don't look ridiculous, nobody enjoys being lied to. As such, it's easy for someone to get incensed by a shameless display of dishonesty such as those recently spouted by the leaders of the grand old party in North Carolina, and such a response would not be unreasonable. In fact it's become alarming how quickly Republicans in North Carolina are willing to break the glass and pull out the tattered playbook entitled "complete fabrications" whenever they feel threatened.
Now it's possible that the political animal, like any other animal, will behave rashly when its very survival is threatened. Just as a wild animal will be dangerous when cornered, a politician can be expected to behave erratically when their political survival is threatened, as NC Republicans are now. Having taken the greater sum of contributions from the financial management sector, also known as public enemy number one or 'Wall street', Fetzer and Burr behaved as any wild animal would with it's back against the wall and lashed out without consideration of the consequences. They can hardly be blamed for following their instincts. However, I for one find this explanation unsatisfactory. I like to think we hold our elected officials to a higher standard than say, a badger or stoat of some kind, and I find it very insulting when I am so brazenly lied to. If North Carolina GOP leaders continue to insult the intelligence of the electorate in this manner, they may find that their political careers have to be put down.
