Bush's Trip to China?

"The era of rampant lynching is a shameful chapter in American history. The noose is not a symbol of prairie justice, but of gross injustice. Displaying one is not a harmless prank. Lynching is not a word to be mentioned in jest. As a civil society we must understand that noose displays and lynching jokes are deeply offensive. They are wrong and they have no place in America today."

A strong statement from an unpopular man. George Bush made the continued use of nooses and lynching references plaguing our country the centerpiece of his speech honoring African American History month.

While there have been many recent noose related incidents, including Jena and Golfweek, this is not a recent phenomena. Black employees have been subjected to this type of offensive conduct for years.

Let us hope that this is Bush's China moment and he not only brings the uninformed into civil society, but he backs up his rhetoric with beefed up EEOC enforcement and DOJ hate crimes enforcement.
