Carter Wrenn calls it right

The bill to end mandatory inspections of new cars was a Republicans’ dream. It was less regulation. Lower fees. Less government. It stopped government taking money from one group and giving it to another. It was practical. Made common sense. And even the press liked it.
And it never got out of committee. It was killed dead as a doornail by lobbyists for people who do car inspections.
As one retired legislator said, the legislature’s been re-wired.

I wonder if we could learn what committee and who
It's members are? It would be nice to send them a note and alert the local paper.
What schmucks.

hmmm
Carter Wrenn getting a compliment on this forum? Hell must be freezing over. Having said that (and apologies if this constitutes a hijack), this guy's fair haired boy is a lot more beatable in November than conventional wisdom will let on and its a shame the Democrats have written off the 13th district. What do Brad Miller and George Holding have in common? They're both crap-lousy lawyers who won't risk their precious political hides to run in anything less than a district gerrymandered to provide them with a sure-fire win. Big difference between the old and new 13th districts nonetheless. Whereas Brad Miller's old district easily had a Dem majority (exceeded 50%), the new 13th is 40% Dem to 36% Rep, the Independents rounding out the remainder. Throw in the fact that some Coble supporters are livid about the way their man got steamrolled by Holding and are plotting to undermine Holding (or so I'm told, with their eye on 2014), and a strong Democratic candidate or even a so-so candidate with plenty of DNC cash should be able to compete with a lawyer from a banking family. Like I said, its a shame.

That's been my motto in business ... and I wish it were the foundation of government.
Wrenn can be a vile operator, but he's not stupid. His straightforward assessment of GOP moral bankruptcy is right on the money.
Stopped clocks and all that, too.
