Christmas Trees for Carter
I try to give a personal contribution at least once a month to a progressive candidate or cause. Often small, I have never given more than $65. I wish we could get the money out of politics, but I know those same candidates and activists I mentioned before need it to get their message out for now. And I’ve seen how our message and our candidates can compete and defeat the large bank accounts of the right wing.
Often I get something for my small contribution, a bumper sticker, a button, ect. Northwest North Carolina’s current republican representation in Washington, Virginia Foxx, now gives calendars to her $100 enablers, however it’s the corporate PAC’s who get much more bang for the bucks, while funding nearly half of her campaign.
Roy Carter, a teacher and high school football coach hopes to challenge Foxx and Friends next fall. Carter, a Democrat who has a deep-rooted belief in excellence in public education, fiscal responsibility, a strong middle class, allowing American farmers to compete, and providing an end of our involvement in the Iraq conflict, understands the challenge of running against a well funded Washington machine as Foxx has. His campaign is one driven by citizens and not republican think tanks, PACs, and the Bush Administration.
I found out from being on his campaign’s email listserve that for half the contribution Foxx demands, those who join the Carter team have the option of receiving a Frasier fur tree for the holidays. A gift to put our gifts underneath. And even though Foxx tries to invent herself as a defender of Christmas to the right-wing media, she’s no Santa, actually she is more like the grinch who stole Christmas (or healthcare, or affordable college loans, or disaster relief, or social security, or…), she has never made your Christmas merrier like Roy Carter.
This Christmas my family will gaze at a tree that
1. Was grown in NC
and
2. Will help provide the leadership needed to provide merry Christmas’ for my children and grandchildren in the future
In the email I received, I found that Team Carter will be at their headquarters on several dates in the near future for team members to stop by and pick their gifts up:
-Saturday, December 1 from 10am - 2pm
-Wednesday, December 5 from 4-8pm-Thursday
-Thursday, December 6 from 4-8pm
Free delivery is also available, and if you cannot make it to one of these dates the campaign will meet with you when it’s more convenient for you during this busy holiday season. You can reserve a tree here, or request an email with all the information and ask the campaign any questions at email@roycarterforcongress.com
***Roy will also be on BlueNC tomorrow Tuesday November 27 for a LIVE BLOG beginning at 4pm***
Merry Christmas!

What a fun idea!
Keep us posted on how this unfolds . . . very interesting.
Buy Blue this Christmas
What a great idea!! I already got one and am going to have one delivered to my grandmother since she can't really get out much. We always buy a 'live' tree but this year I know that this year my money will go to help a good Democrat right here in the 5th district. Rock On. It is not enough to understand, or to see clearly. The future will be shaped in the arena of human activity, by those willing to commit their minds and their bodies to the task. RFK
