Congrats, Tricia and Jerry!

And the (Elliot) Meek shall inherit the Earth:

Democratic Rep. Tricia Cotham of Mecklenburg County gave birth to Elliot Matthew Meek around lunchtime Wednesday at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews. Cotham's husband, Jerry Meek, said Thursday that mother and child are doing well. It's the couple's first child.

The 31-year-old Cotham will win her third term Tuesday. A Republican challenger withdrew and isn't on the ballot.

There's hope for the Democratic Party yet. :)
