Congressman Charles H. Taylor - Dishonorable, Misleading, and Disreputable at Best!
This is a copy of my LTE to the ACT, only I have went beyond the 200 word limit. I really didn’t think you would care if I added to it and at least said here what I really wanted to say in the Times. If they publish it, that will be a first. Hope it makes sense at least as I am in one of those "The more I think about it, the more pissed I get" moods! And, for those of you in or close to the 11th, I would really appreciate it if you would just happen to email it to anyone you know in the 11th!
In the online edition of Friday, Sept 29th Asheville Citizen Times, Congressman Charles Taylor took a lot of cheap shots at Heath Shuler & Ex. GA Senator, Disabled Vietnam Vet, Past Secretary of Veterans Affairs and the National Cmdr. of the Disabled American Vet's, Max Cleland. He was, at best, Misleading & Dishonorable! Taylor seemingly has no, nor, has he ever had any, Respect for Veterans of the 11th District, much less a highly decorated Veteran such as Cleland!!
For those of you who are not familiar with him, according to Army Records and to Wikepeda.com, then, Capt. Max Cleland, was the Battalion Signal Officer serving with the 2nd Batt./12th Cav Regt/ 1st Cavalry Division of the US Army when it was ordered into the Firebase at Khe Sanh to provide support to the beleaguered and thin stretched 1st Marine Division, whom NVA General Giapp had been attacking without let up from artie sites high in the surrounding hills around the Firebase. On 08 April 68 Cpt. Cleland was in the process of going to erect a dipole antenna for the Communications System. As he was exiting the helicopter he noticed a grenade he thought had came off of his flack vest. In the process of trying to move the grenade Cpt. Cleland received injuries which resulted in the loss of both legs and part of one arm. Before discharge, Cpt. Cleland was awarded the Silver Star and the Bronze Star for Valorous Action In Combat. He served in the Georgia Senate from 1971-1975 and as administrator of the VA under President Carter. With the departure of Sen. Sam Nunn Cleland ran for and won Nunn’s Senate seat.
According to the following information gathered from Taylor's Congressional Website, we find that Taylor, was born in 1941, One year prior to Max Cleland. Upon his graduation from Wake Forest in 1966, he was only 25 yrs old and could still enlist up until he was 35. As for the war, Vietnam had yet to hit its high point. Now here is a little something with a twist. See, one of my best friends here in Graham County, was with the USMC at Khe Sanh and received wounds from a gunshot on Hill 881 South something over 2 football fields length from where Cleland received his.
During this investigation we found that yes, Charles Taylor “COULD HAVE” done as NC-50 State Senator, 1st. LT. John Snow did, like John McCain did, and like many other Congressmen & Senators did, he “COULD HAVE” served his country! He could have done his duty! Yet, Taylor didn’t have the courage to serve, so Congressman Charles Taylor gained the distinction of wannabe and as he wasn’t there, over 58,000 American’s gave their lives so he along with everyone else would have the freedom we have. Well, I think that about settles the issue of Taylor throwing Rocks at Heath Shuler & Max Cleland. However, there is one other issue to resolve.
That is the issue of Taylor making his rounds and telling everyone how he has voted more for Veterans than anyone else! How they would not have this or that without him! Now, my friend, this is seriously nothing more than a load of Buffalo Chips! If you are a veteran, especially one within the 11th District then I would advise you to please visit this website, it is where 90% of my facts come from. It is where the following voting report comes from. I think you will find it more than interesting and like I said I use it for a lot on my info. The site is owned & operated by Larry Scott of the VFW & DAV. I belong to the American Legion & DAV and in my totally volunteer role as a Veterans Advocate & Public Affairs Officer I consult Larry & his site daily. I found Congressman

Keep at it, Dan.
The Party of Torture and Perverts is falling apart under the weight of its maggot-riddled soul - and Up Chuck Taylor(T) is simply one slimey piece of a slow-moving train wreck.
Keep up the pressure.
How many vets?
I'm just wondering. Perhaps we could do a sticky post some "slow" day (as if there will be many of those) to find out.
CountryCrats - my thoughts, my blog.

Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Keep it up Dan! You are making
a big difference in that district! Thank you for your activism and Patriotism! Schuler is a good man and your support has got to be an honor for him. The more I learn about Charles Taylor, the more I wonder why this criminal is not behind bars....oh, wait...he's able to buy HIS justice!!!!
No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.
