Congressman Larry Kissell

Has that sunk in yet? I have more pictures coming and will get them posted as soon as I can. Working for Change is on the job.

Larry with Tina, the girls and hometown constituents. I hear there is a huge crowd there for Larry.

Rep. Heath Shuler stopped by Congressman Kissell's office
It also used to be Rep. Shuler's office.

I'm looking for Larry on television.
I just saw GK Butterfield.

I see Patrick McHenry and Virginia Foxx
It looks like C-SPan put their extra cameras on the Republican side. Ugh!

So much for reaching across the aisle, huh?
Where'd THAT come from, Betsy????
Rightbackatcha....Ugh!
:>)

I never said I was reaching across the aisle, Smitty
I loathe those two. They represent so much that is wrong with this society. I don't want to see their faces. I want to see the people I worked for and voted for.

Gotcha
Yeah...I know that's what the deal was Ms. Betsy...that's why the smiley face. I know right now the more-involved in the demo party is getting a big kick out of seeing the fruits of their labor...and rightly so. Been there, done that (as the saying goes).
My repubs did a horrendous job of reaching across the aisle after all the back slapping and high-fives happened right after the elections years back....remember? 6 years of "we won, we're in control, we're right, you're wrong....we/they attitude". It brought about much of .... how did you put it? "much that is wrong with this society".
Hopefully this won't be just a mirror image of that kind of politics in our country. "Change"...it's the mantra of the day and it's needed, INCLUDING reaching across the aisle.
Oops...I'm ranting. Sorry 'bout that.
The best thinking is independent thinking.
Well...If McHenry and Foxx change
I might reach across the aisle. They really are vile, Smitty. You're new here, so you aren't aware that I'm married to a Republican. I don't loathe all of you. :D

You'll get a kick out of this, Ms. Betsy
I was at a republican meeting last year and we were discussing issues and, of course, candidates and republican incumbents. Virginia Foxx is my congresswoman...5th District.
At this meeting, one of the precinct chairmen spoke up and started saying some things about Foxx's initiatives and in a round-about way questioned her intelligence.
Now...this is no kidding....one of the more elderly republicans there interrupted this fellow and said (and I kid you not..and this is paraphrased): "Listen, my friend, Virginia Foxx is not just another pretty face".
Me and one of the ladies sitting next to me had to get up and get another cup of coffee at that point.
The best thinking is independent thinking.
Oh my heavens!
Thank goodness I didn't have liquid in my mouth when I read that. I would be buying a new keyboard! That's hilarious!

Virginia Foxx
Don't you love the way she always worms her way in so she can be behind whoever is going to be on TV? Reminds me of Kathrine Harris.

You know....I noticed that!
She was sitting right behind Rep. Pence. Hey...just got a great picture of Congressman Brad Miller. He stopped by Congressman Kissell's office to say hello.

Mixed feelings
This always happens. I decide not to go and then when I am watching it I wish I were there. I know the same thing is going to happen on the 20th. Today was perfect...Larry and Brad. I saw Larry before I saw Brad, but I didn't see Brad stop by Larry's office. The only problem is that I wasn't there. Bummer. I can't go anywhere until the economy gets better. Hear me, dems?

Kay Hagen
That's a big thing to forget. I'm losing it.

Wish I could have been there!
Too busy with schoolwork to be C-Span-ing. Look forward to someone posting the video! It's so good to know I now have a congressman who will listen to the concerns of my district, be responsive, and will actually show up to interact with his constituents.
Congratulations to Rep. Larry Kissell (D-NC)!
P.S. On a complete tangent, I have some programs left over from the meeting of the Electoral College in Dec. Anyone who wants one, please give me an e-mail at ncpublicservant@gmail.com with a mailing address. I have about 4 to give away!
Yay....just heard Larry's voice vote for Speaker
I enjoyed that little thrill.

I think she's giving autographs. What an awesome role model for them.

it is a great day in DC!
Here in Congressman Kissell's office watching the vote for Speaker. Office has been packed since 10 this morning with constituents, friends, family, press and lobbyists. It is an exciting day!
Three things of note:
Larry got his first choice of committee assignments- Armed Services
Larry announced he will vote against Congressional pay raise and will not accept one even if it passes
The first thing Larry said to me this morning was "I've been meaning to call you!" As if he's got nothing else to do but hang out on the phone with me! (But happy to know he's still the same old Larry)
I don't mean this in a bad way, but
Robert Byrd is over the hill, down the other side, and wandering in the valley. Is C-SPAN even available in West Virginia? Or do they just watch old 16 millimeter films of their Senator from the halcyon days of mid-20th Century? I really don't mean to be ageist, but you know. Damn.
Okay, back to term limits: how about 7? That's like 42 years in the Senate, which is more than enough to learn and subsequently forget everything, and then learn it all again. And forget it...
Hey...Watchit !
Hey...I'm an old "byrd" myself sharrison ! I mean, when I do finally kick the bucket...me, Byrd and Strom Thurman are gonna do a little fishin' and politikin' wherever we old dudes go in the "hereafter".
Laying all crap aside, you're dead on about Byrd. I mean, doesn't someone have to hold his head up when it's his turn to cast a vote in the Senate? Geeezzz, y'all. He is the poster child for the proponents of term limits !!!!!!!!!! And, I'm a HUGE proponent of that...which you already know.

Flipper Hayes says let me at Congressman Kissell again?
http://www2.journalnow.com/content/2009/jan/06/hayes-not-ruling-out-rema...
Dear Flipper!
In Baseball, there is a old saying. 3 strikes and you are out......How about a long walk to Concord when the real economic crunch comes and you find out your Republican wealth isn't worth the paper it is printed on?
Hahahahahahahaha
That would be so sweet. Larry has already shown more class in four hours that Flipper did in years.
On my way back from DC
What an exciting day in Washington! I'll try to post my pictures later.
On the topic of Hayes running again in 2010: We should be so lucky, but it ain't going to happen.
Hayes closed his campaign headquarters in Concord, which were open non-stop for the last 10 years. Why close your HQ if you're going to run again a year from now?
