It's worse than we think

This makes me so goddamn mad I want to strangle every stinking GOP apologist and enabler in sight. Their eight years of squandering our assets on senseless wars and special interests has driven this nation to the very edge of oblivion.

Blue Dog Democrats who subscribe to the same sick corporate agenda are no better.

Across the country, tens of thousands of underemployed and jobless young people, many with college credits or work histories, are struggling to house themselves in the wake of the recession, which has left workers between the ages of 18 and 24 with the highest unemployment rate of all adults.

Those who can move back home with their parents — the so-called boomerang set — are the lucky ones. But that is not an option for those whose families have been hit hard by the economy, including Mr. Taylor, whose mother is barely scraping by while working in a laundromat. Without a stable home address, they are an elusive group that mostly couch surfs or sleeps hidden away in cars or other private places, hoping to avoid the lasting stigma of public homelessness during what they hope will be a temporary predicament.

As the father of a 22 year old senior in college, I say that we as a society have failed, failed, failed our children. We allowed this country to become the private property of a corporate class who will always put personal wealth and a war agenda ahead of the common good. And in North Carolina, it's even worse than you think. We have the same problems as every state in the nation, but a cabal of elected leaders who quite simply don't give a shit.

Just to spotlight exactly the kind of irresponsible smart ass that deserves strangling.

The industrial corridor along

The industrial corridor along i85 down to Charlotte is proof that we need an industrial policy in this country; until we get that, unemployment for college grads will stay high.

I think you have it half right...

"We allowed this country to become the private property of a corporate class who will always put personal wealth and a war agenda ahead of the common good. Not quite!
We were lied to by the MSM who colluded with their corporate masters to alter the dimensions of public debate.
We were lied to by people we voted for in good faith. While in office they enabled the rich by diluting the laws and systems we depend on bit by bit. We have not given up. They turned their backs on us when it mattered most, often because it was inconvenient to fight for us, over and over and over again.

We now have a president who talks like a humanist but who seems willing do almost any deal rather than face down the media. What we need is a few outspoken old school Liberal Democrats talking down the Murdoch oriented media. For the good of the nation we need to unplug FOX and Murdoch to start with. They have shifted the perception window so far to the right that they sold the public on the idea that a moderate conservative looked too liberal to elect.

True enough

The media masters are complicit for sure in the downward spiral. From the War in Iraq to climate change to campaign lies and worse, they have been asleep at the switch in so many ways. That problem, too, is worse here in North Carolina than in other geographies. The concentration of newspaper ownership (McClatchy) has been a journalistic disaster from the day it was announced.

Ask yourself.....

The corporate and wealthy sectors have been working since the New Deal to control labor, primarily as a means to suppress wages! Why is any of this a surprise since for the past 20 years productivity has skyrocketed and profits soared, and wages were driven down - hence our current rampant inequality. Corporations are working hard to steal wages and benefits. They create, like WalMart, unfunded externalities like a work force dependent on public benefits, by design, as they pay pols for tax subsidies. Our current president and his AG cannot find it in their hearts to put bankers in jail when they launder billions in drug money and steal illegal fees - a fine will do they say. Oh, get indignant, I have been there for a long, long, time.

None of this happened by chance. And one of the worst contributors was: Surprise, the Clintons and the DLC who set us up for the current climate. And guess what, the Third Way, successor to the fraudulent DLC, has as its co-chair, Kay Hagan. We are our own worst enemy. And now: we have people busting their butts to get Hillary in 2016. Must be a death wish, probably in the water. We better take a hard look.

We are on a path to have people starve. They already die from lack of health care. And with all respect to the emotion over the shootings, no one will do anything, Obama to the contrary.

So we sit and complain, and allow the reactionary right to make liberal and progressive extremely bad words, then they brand us with them, continuously, and our people cower. They announce they are the White Peoples Party, and defacto brand us as the black and brown peoples party as if that were shameful - and we do not fight back. When we do fight back, we have many idiots who contend harsh words are bad, shrill, contentious, but they have no effective counters of their own. Cowards.

If you are tempted by Hillary in 2016, remember she promoted Blue Dogs continuously. Oh, and about that wage suppression, we do need to reconstitute unions, but in a form where they cannot abuse their members.
