D'Annunzio meltdown continues

If you keep poking people Timmy, they're gonna throw you in the pokey:

Republican congressional candidate Tim D’Annunzio Thursday lashed out at two party officials – including state chairman Tom Fetzer – after an incident in which a Republican legislator said he felt physically threatened by D’Annunzio.

The criticism followed an incident at Stanly County Republican headquarters Tuesday. D’Annunzio got into a heated argument with state Rep. Justin Burr of Albemarle after the lawmaker questioned his proposals to dismantle much of the federal government.

“He took offense to that and started getting violent,” Burr said Thursday, “and started poking at me and started sticking his finger in my face… I really thought there for a few minutes that he was going to attack me.”

An excerpt from D'Annunzio's latest blog post:

Back to, “the consent of the governed.” The Declaration says, “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” This Statement follows the statement that pronounces, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

The Declaration states, “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted.”

My premise is this: The government is only acting with “just power” if it acts with the “consent” of those being “governed” by the action. Any action by the government unequally imposed is not and cannot be just. (Example: unequal tax rates can only be justly imposed if those being governed by the rate give consent. If you want to impose a 50% rate on the top 1% then the top 1% must consent.)

If imposed without consent then it is unjust. Imposing with only the agreement of the majority of the beneficiaries is tyranny, an alienation of the rights of those imposed upon, inequality, discriminatory and can in no way be considered consent.

I guess Paraclete has a bit of a problem with democracy. The idea that individual consent is required for legitimate government is typical Republican perversion of the very idea of the rule of law.

But you know what? I'd rather see this clown in Congress than Larry Kissell. At least D'Annunzio is honest about his delusions.

He may think it sounds reasonable in the tax example, but replace that with other laws:

A pedophile is only breaking the law if he gives his "consent" to the law.

A person who takes another's life is only a murderer if he agrees that killing people is wrong.

etc.

Excellent point

I imagine Paraclete will soon be calling for a referendum of the National Organization of Pedophile Extremists (NOPE) asking them to vote on whether they consent to being prevented from exercising their personal passions.

Can NOPE speak for all pedophiles, even if they're not members of NOPE? Paraclete says no.
