Dear Dallas
I got your email today and I must tell you, I am scared.
For those of you living in the counties listed below, when you go to the polls, you will be asked to vote on a proposed tax increase: an increase of 200% in your county real estate transfer tax (home tax). If passed, your real estate transfer tax will go from 0.2% to 0.6% of a home's sale price. The additional tax means an additional $800.00 on a $200,000.00 home!
This land transfer tax is a regressive tax that unfairly targets one group of citizens. The land transfer tax in an unreliable income source. Disappointing real estate tax revenue in an uncertain market could lead to additional tax increases.
If we do not say no, they will just keep coming wanting more! Please contact Dallas.woodhouse@afphq.org if you would like to help with this effort to beat these tax increases.
First off, I'm scared because no tax should unfairly target one group of citizens. I'm a rich guy and the legislature just cut my taxes. But the next thing you know, they'll be back hitting me again to help pay for all those homeless bums and retarded people that god has already told to drop dead.
Second off, you're right about unreliable income. My good buddies in the sub-prime bidness have walked away with billions while flushing our entire economy down the toilet, so you bet I'm with you. Houses aren't selling like they used to. In fact, nothing's selling like it used to. (Maybe you can explain to me why you all like that consumption tax model so much. I figure is just about as unreliable as your transfer tax. Right?)
Third off, please bring me some help. I'm in Orange County, which isn't on your list, but we still need your Puppets on the ground to fight the good fight. You never know when the commies will come after my bank accounts and I want to be ready.
James
PS. I haven't seen you writing too much about the conflict over in Iraq. That sucker is costing me a arm and a leg, no pun intended. Maybe you all conservative Puppets could raise some hell on that front, too? It looks like ya'll could cover all your worries about the NC transfer tax for the next ten years for the cost of one hour's worth of Iraq war spending. Just sayin'.

You know, It's amazing to me how they
adopt the language of progressives so readily when it suits their purpose. It's actually kind of clever on a certain level, but if they thought about it they would realize that something must be wrong with their way of thinking if they have to resort to using the language of the other side to try and score points with the public.
I take it the 'afp' part of 'afp.hq' in his email address stand for Art Freakin' Pope?

Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
If we start making rich people pay taxes on the houses they sell
since obviously only rich people own homes, that will be a serious breach of the RPFD (Rich Persons Fairness Doctrine). It would be far better if we were to implement the Cardboard Box transfer tax for those that may be less fortunate, but have to move more often. I mean, how long can a cardboard box last in the elements and all? Upside, I would guess a couple months if a nice tarp is found in the trash and placed over said box.
So, you see my point here? If every two months or less we have people moving from one cardboard box to another, we can easily plan for the revenue stream that will be flowing into the State coffers! People with houses move on average every 8 years or so. Does the state want to wait 8 YEARS! for this transfer tax money, or do they want it every two months. You do the math.
