Delegates on the brain...

Has David Parker committed? I got an instant message saying he did a press release after the Edwards endorsement, but his status is unchanged in any of the sources I can find. The local paper has an article today about delegate counts and endorsements, but nothing on Mr. Parker.
AAGH!
..sorry about the outburst. I have to tell you that living in a small town with a superdelegate and having presidential campaigns tromping all around your county and district in the lead up to the election is certainly suspenseful. LOL, in a good way!

Now, on to my own candidacy. I'm running to be an Obama delegate at the 10th District convention on Saturday. Why it didn't occur to me until last night that I MIGHT have to make some remarks? Could be I've been busy. Three kids and being a dedicated Dem will do that.

I've got one minute to cover. No big deal....but it has to be convincing and concise. I work hard enough in the party that a lot of people know me, or have heard of me. The real challenge is, I think, overcoming the fact that I've got this "yankee" accent. Trust is sometimes hard to come by in WNC.

...so, anybody got a good opening joke?

Why do I have a feeling these conventions

are going to be a whole lot more fun than last year?

With 57 delegate wannabees, none of the 13th districts

candidates will get to adress the convention. The organizers have provided a way for us to submit bios/resumes that will be compiled into a kind of convention program. We are free to campaign on our own to a certain extent.

Linda is certainly right - these conventions are gonna be interesting to say the least!!

Story on Parker in the news last night

In an interview last night Parker said again that he will not commit until all the primaries are over.

Received a post card from Ray Riffe for 6th CD delegate

He doesn't state who he supports, just a list of accomplishments. He ran against Shaw in the 3rd District in 2006 for Commissioner which makes me wonder how he can run in the 6th as a delegate because at that time this was his address:6104 Dawn Ridge Trail, Greensboro (this is public record)

How do we know who will represent us/our choice the best?

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

TrueMeckDem on Myers Park Pat

"My opinion of Pat has changed over the years. I used to think he was truly a man of the people but the longer he has been mayor, the less I think of him.

As with most cities, Charlotte has three political parties: Dem, Rep, and Chamber of Commerce. Pat is definitely the puppet of the COC here. What is good for business is good for Charlotte and Pat ... very personable guy, he has gotten a bunch of Dems in these parts to vote for him but I don't trust him."
