Do you ever wonder...

Do you ever wonder what people were thinking when you read a story like this: Boy Accidentally Killed by Submachine Gun at Firearms Expo?

Key quotes:

Christopher Bizilj was testing a 9 mm Micro Uzi at the Westfield Sportsman's Club in Westfield, Mass., as part of the Machine Gun Shoot and Firearms Expo, when he shot himself Sunday.

...[A]ccording to Ted Oven, a gun retailer and president of the Massachusetts Association of Firearms Dealers, Christopher should have never been allowed to handle a submachine gun on his own.

Oven has shot similar weapons and said the recoil is tough to control even for an adult.

"It requires all my strength," said Oven, who added that he did not have much experience with the Micro Uzi. "For an 8-year-old, it was inappropriate."

Doubts about Dole?

There are no words

I read that article and simply can't believe a Dr. of emergency medicine - who must have seen at least a few gun shot wounds - would allow his small child to shoot an uzi.

Vote Democratic, the ass you save may be your own.

I can give you all kinds of developmentally appropriate

activities for 8 year olds.

Shooting an uzi is not one of them.

I suppose it depends on how you want them to develop.

Dad evidently wanted his boy to develop into someone who appreciates the "joy" of firing a weapon on full auto. 'Cuz the ability to kill a whole herd of deer in 3 seconds is everyman's right.

Ya know, maybe it's just nature thinning the herd.

That's awful to say.

How sad that in the same week that the national media is all abuzz about the former American Idol winner's family being gunned down, no one can take the time to make this into an issue. I guess that would be the liberal media at work again.
