Dole Won't Attend GOP Convention
The News & Observer is reporting that NC Senator Elizabeth Dole likely won't be attending the National GOP Convention in September.
U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole will be a no-show at her party's big bash in St. Paul, Minn.
Dole spokeswoman Katie Hallaway confirmed Monday that Dole won't be at the Republican National Convention in September.
"She's got a busy week scheduled in North Carolina," Hallaway said. "When there are breaks in the Senate schedule, she spends as much time as possible in North Carolina."
Hallaway said nothing should be inferred about Dole's missing the convention -- either about her support for Sen. John McCain or about the security of her re-election in November.
I'm not entirely sure what to read into this. Dole was a keynote speaker at the 2004 convention and is still viewed as one of the top women in the GOP. Is she distancing herself from McCain to avoid the wagon hitch or coat-tail ride?
The time spent in NC did make me laugh though. Liddy spends one year out of 6 at best in North Carolina. I really hope we can flip this seat blue in November. The only advantage she provided over Jesse Helms is that she wasn't quite as divisive as he was.
North Carolina deserves a Senator that doesn't use her childhood roots to carpetbag her way into the US Senate.
BlueNC is dedicated to making North Carolina a more progressive and prosperous state. If your intention is to disrupt this effort, please find somewhere else to express your opinions.

I guess Liddy Dole thinks we'll all forget
that she's been a loyal Bush Republican and a huge part of the problem in Washington for the last six years.

"They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum Then they charged the people a dollar 'n a half just to see 'em. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."
Wow, I hope that the N&O and Char-O do front-page
stories on this every single day during that convention.
Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Typical for No Show Dole.
Typical for No Show Dole. Let's send her back to Kansas where she belongs and get Hagan into the Senate. Then in 2010 we can relace Burr with Jim Neal.
Very Odd
Dole has given a speech at the last 3 conventions. Do they not trust her now or does she realize how unpopular the GOP is in NC?

"Keep the Faith"
I bet she wasn't invited to speak
....so she decided not to go.
