Dull is as Dole Does

For those of you who may have missed the sorry spectacle, North Carolina's senior Senator made a fool of herself again today, this time on Meet the Press. The story was diaried by someone named Maaark at Daily Kos, where plenty of people jumped on the Dole-bashing bandwagon.

The rumor mill has it that Dull is living on borrowed time politically. Even if the Party of Greed maintains a majority in the Senate, her performance as a party leader has been so universally panned that no one expects her to be anything beyond a reliable rubber stamp for King George over the next two years. And as I've said on several occasions, there are plenty of people who believe she won't be able to handle the onslaught of a tough re-election campaign.

If Dole thinks her loud-mouthed appearance with Tim Russert will do her any good when the chips start to fall, she's even more delusional than I thought. By her wild rantings on Meet the Press, she's simply demonstrating - again - that she hasn't, doesn't, and will never give a damn about the people here North Carolina.

Boom. Boom. Boom.

Just warming up.

Do-Nothing Dole

That needs to be the refrain for ht enext 2 years.

I want to read her book....One lucky Stewardess

But guess she'll never write that one. That thread was full of great stuff, glad you saved it so we can continue to beat the "Dole Drums" with it! :)

No matter that patriotism is too often the refuge of scoundrels. Dissent, rebellion, and all-around hell-raising remain the true duty of patriots.

I thought you were exaggerating.

But, I just watched the rebroadcast and Oh. My. Frickin. God. That woman needs put down. She looks to be in pretty bad shape, she was spouting bullcrap, and just being R-U-D-E. So, rude that it was obvious everyone thought she had gone too far. I know what she was trying to do, but instead she just came off as an ass.

Glad you watched it.

Scary shit. Looks to me like she's flat out losing it.

This is what I mean by pressure. She's feeling it now . . . wait until she has to run again and try to defend her pathetic performance. (And don't worry, she doesn't have the stomach to spend her time in NC even if she knows her absence is a liability. She's a big city gal with no need for hicks and heels like us.

Dear Lord, please don't let her drop out.

Our second-tier candidates should kick her ass. Of course, we still have no idea WHO will defeat her. While many people are making 2006 predictions, I'm going to predict that Jim Hunt runs for Senate in 2008. He will be 71 years old, but has the look and demanor and fire of a much younger man.

If a progressive runs for this race, I'll be all over it.

And, again, please don't let her drop out!!!

NC has a bad trend

in Senate elections:

2004 Burr
2002 Dole
1998 Edwards
1996 Helms
1992 Faircloth
1990 Helms
1986 Sanford
1984 Helms
1980 East
1978 Helms

That's 2 Democratic wins in 10 Senate elections, and only 1 in the past six. No matter what you think of Dole, 2008 will be a huge fight to knock her off.

It's not all that bad.

Let's take Helms out of the equation and look at it in another light.

2004 Bowles v. Burr
2002 Bowles v. Dole
1998 Edwards (Dem) v. Faircloth (former Dem)
1992 Faircloth (former Dem) v. Sanford (Dem)
1986 Sanford (Dem)v. Broyhill (weird replacement for suicide)
1980 East v. Morgan

Now, wikipedia says that East barely beat Morgan in the Republican landslide year of 1980. He committed suicide and Sanford beat Broyhill, the temp sitting Senator and former Congressmen. Sanford was beated by Faircloth in the Clinton election year by a former Democrat who was groomed and funded by Helms. Edwards beat Faircloth and that takes us to 2002. Dole wins with lots of national backing and a belief that she will be a "compassionate conservative". Bowles losing to Burr is his own fault, as he was up huge early.

I just watched the clip...

...and was going to post about the obvious Botox treatments. But after your discussions about NC Senatorial history, that seems a little shallow.

Still. Ew.

I didn't want to get too personal...

but I couldn't help but wonder if the way she was all hunched over was poor manners or a sign of some age-associated health problems.

Dole is vulnerable

If only this were Larry's third congressional race instead of his first, then we'd have a candidate ...

My email to Dole's

My email to Dole's Office:

After seeing "Senator" Dole on Meet the Press today, I want to say that I am ashamed and embarassed that this person purports to be a representative of North Carolina. I will also add that I did not support her in her first election, and I will work against her if she chooses to run for re-election. She should be ashamed of herself and resign immediately.

I'm sure that will shake her up.

Yeah, right.

I'm Bloo through and through.

It's always worth a try!
