ECU against the amendment
As I mentioned in a recent blog entry, I was very excited to see the Greenville City Council come out against the discriminatory amendment one! But that doesn't mean a lot unless we turn it into votes against the amendment. So I wanted to give a warm invite to anyone who can help us out with this on campus anti-amendment event at ECU on Tuesday. They only have on campus voting for 1 week, so we have to make the most of it!

When: 3:15 - 4:45pm Tuesday the 24th
Where: Gather in front of the Brewster Building at 3:15, we'll then move to more crowded areas of campus to handout literature, and will post flyers around campus as we go
What: We'll be distributing 3 pieces of literature. 1) Vote against lit 2) Early voting time info lit 3) A bus schedule from main campus to Minges
Why: We need to keep hate out of our constitution, and we need to make use of the ECU early voting site to strengthen our argument for keeping on campus voting in the future
I've been going to so many anti-amendments events recently and been amazed by the energy and hope of the organizers of these events. And so I finally figured that if they're taking it to the next level by organizing events, then I probably have a responsibility to give it a try too. It can't be that hard right?
If any of Blue NC's eastern NC readership can help out, I'd love the help!

Keep up the good work, Jake
Turn out is everything ... and the more we can get out for early voting, the better.
Just got back earlier today
from a workshop in Wilson against the amendment.
There's going to be a rally against the amendment too near the end of early voting, check out these links for more info:

ECU and College Students
Jake,
According to the most recent vote tracker http://www.carolinatransparency.com/votetracker/ (I hate that its Civitas but it is pretty useful info) - the average age of voters so far in the state is 58! In Pitt County it is 61!!! While there are many older people who are against Amendment One, we have got to get younger voters out who are more likely to vote AGAINST!!! That's why these college events are so important to not only raise awareness but to make sure they actually get out and vote!!! Keep up the good work at ECU and know your friends at the coast support you! Let us know what we can do to help!
