Ed Ridpath

Ed Ridpath announced today that he's back in the race for the NC House (District 37). Good on him.

Fuquay-Varina, NC - Ed Ridpath today announced his 2008 candidacy for the North Carolina State House, District 37. In 2006, Ridpath, a Democrat, won 43% of the vote as a newcomer to politics in his bid to unseat three-term Republican incumbent Paul “Skip” Stam, now the Republican Minority Leader in the NC House. Ridpath made the following statement:

“After a relaxing holiday break to take time for quiet thought and much discussion, I have decided to serve again as the Democratic candidate for the North Carolina House, District 37 in 2008. Family, friends, neighbors, and supporters across North Carolina have urged me to continue to build on the many successes of our 2006 campaign.

Our campaign proved the effectiveness of direct, one-on-one voter contact and we will work hard to reach thousands more voters. We will focus on the local issues that impact the everyday lives of our community. We will continue to demand that Southern Wake County be treated fairly and we will fight for representation that stands up for us all. ”

Ed Ridpath, 46, is a Senior IT Architect with IBM. He lives in Fuquay Varina with Jeanne, his wife of 25 years, daughter Veronica, a 17 year-old high school senior and son Ryan, an 11 year-old in the sixth grade.

NC House District 37 covers Southern Wake County and includes the towns of Apex, Holly Springs, and Fuquay Varina, and the communities of New Hill and Willow Spring.

Ed is a frequent-but-quiet visitor to BlueNC and I'm glad to see him putting Stam on notice. Every seat, every time. That's my motto. (Well, one of my many mottoes.)

Kick his ass, Ed.

Here's the latest report I could find

Ed Ridpath

Stam

It's apples and oranges, but it looks like the overall race was in the $150,000 range between the two.

I would say if only

But I know what NCFree means by "Leans". Keep on chugging Ed. 2 more years of campaigning, plus all the knowledge you have gotten should be a big help.

I would say good luck, but I am sure you are trying to do enough to not rely on luck.

Quiet Candidates

Anything you say can and will be used against you!

Blogs are great permanent records of off-the-cuff things said. So the decision to commit to regular, frequent blogging (as opposed to my regular, well-controlled email newsletter or the above press release, for example) is a very tough one.

BlueNC is a very friendly community, but it is easily accessed by the not-so-friendly. I have visions of creating a fun, red-meat, trash-talkin' post, and then seeing it cut/paste into "Swift Boat" attack ad.

At least you're here often enough

you will catch the times when it's OK to speak up.

Keep taking them on, keep building.

It will pay off in the very near future, I'm sure. Trust me, the Dems in your district are grateful to know you're already putting yourself out there, ready to represent them. Just let us know what you need!
