Elaine Marshall needs to figure out the internet!

I am a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party and more recently a financial backer. I desperately want Elaine Marshall to win, but I cannot understand how her team has not figured out the internet.

She has not even posted a google ad when one searches for Richard Bur (as he has done if one searches for her). Her site is dull and lacks vigor. Cal Cunningham provided a much fresher approach and I think Elaine needs to get it going, now! Are there no savvy technology consultants on the beat?

I've got $2400 itching and ready to contribute, but I want to see a bit of basic effort.

A google ad is a good idea

even if I can't imagine anyone googling Richard Burr. Elaine and her team have done a good job staying visible on the blogs, here and on DailyKos, the 2 I know of, but there's room for improvement:)

Progressives are the true conservatives.

Hmmm

I won't argue that the website needs a major upgrade which is why I recommend staying tuned in the middle of the month for a big change in that department. I will argue, however, that Elaine -- and full disclosure I'm her new media consultant -- has a strong online department excluding the website.

Since January we've raised over $500K online in small contributions, built a large social networking presence, and put together one heck of an active email list. I can also tell you we're running online ads, but that running a standard google ad -- while popular -- basically gets you nothing.

I won't argue that everything we do is pretty, but it works and gets results.

Oh, and I'll be expecting your $2,400 when we relaunch the site! ;)

Google ad comment

I am glad to see you prompt us candidates to get into the tech age. I'm guilty of being behind on means to an end, too. Yet, the end is to advance our progressive agenda to comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable, as it has been written.

If there is any of that $2400 left over, I could use it to get yard signs, and, oh, a google ad, too.

Meet Elaine tonight

Meet Elaine tonight at Barack Obama's Birthday Party in Durham. She will be at the Carolina Ale House sometime between 7 - 9 pm. Perhaps you can bring your checkbook and make her promise to take out the Google ad as part of your contribution?

btw, Rep. David Price will be in attendance as well!

Great, the internet moves quickly!

I sincerely want you guys to get it going. You don't have weeks to redo the internet. Look great out of the gate, please. Cal's videos were neat, I don't know if they were viewed or watched, but they were cool and insightful. I'd be pumping out 3 minute vids every week of Elaine talking etc. There really is an opportunity to be substantive, fresh and interesting. The current site scares me! Drab and boring and lacks substance.

Here's part two of the query:

I understand there are limits on using the FEC database etc for fundraising, but I assume you can get donor lists directly from the party or other candidates. Who is working the beat for donors?

Why in the world have people who have given $1000+ to multiple democrats not been called (if not by Secretary Marshall...at least say her finance director? ) I'm one of those folks, and no I'm not trekking out to Durham :) for a handshake. I'm not using my real name on here, but I assure you I am not making this up. I strongly preferred Cal and one reason was this: aggressive and savvy campaign OK, he lost, I support the nominee.

Hope you guys are pounding the phones and making calls now to raise money. Sending out these repetitive emails are fine and they will get you the $500,000 ++, but is anyone mining larger potential donors. What are you waiting for?

I don't want an answer, it's rhetorical, but serious question. I figure if my phone hasn't rung, well a lot of other folks phone hasn't rung. Cal "outraised" (let's pretend that is a word) her....and it was NOT due to the shadowy DSCC out of state donors, it was because he got more and larger IN state donors....do the math and it's easy to see.

P.S. The day I get a fundraising call from Secretary Marshall and an invite to meet her, you have my $2400 check, credit card, USD, Euros or however the campaign wants the money! :)

Folks, let's see some energy and excitement and work! Good luck, please find me, I'm waiting by the phone and how many others are there....

The Finance Department

As someone who was able to get to know the finance department of the campaign during the primary I can guarantee you, HillBilly, that the folks over there are every bit as aggressive as Cal's folks were (Emily's list not being involved and the DSCC supporting Cal was a BIG deal money wise). While there is no doubt that the fund-raising totals haven't been great, Elaine's finance department is innovative and I know that going through donor lists is a top priority and the fact that you haven't gotten a phone call yet is more indicative of limited resources and those donor lists (which can be extremely long) so maybe with your $$$ they can hire more finance staff :)

Good answer!

And I second the motion that Hillbilly should go ahead and write the check. :)

OK, I forked up...

Just kicked in $2400 via the campaign website, as the campaign will see. :)

Mrs. Hillbilly will take a little more convincing for her $2400.

I was contacted by the campaign on here, so I'll give them credit for that move.

Also, video posted by AJ on facebook, which I take as the rumblings of a start.

Funny point about EMILY's list, while I know who they are I've never contributed, they called me about a week+ ago to fundraise...obviously mining me from some list. I demurred because although I have supported "generic" Democratic causes, I'd rather contribute directly to a candidate.

I hope I have not offended anyone within the campaign....that as not my intent.

Let's win!

Good show

Thanks for starting this fray, and for sticking with it. My wife and I will follow your lead.
