OCTOBER SEMINAR ON MENTAL ILLNESS AND THE DEATH PENALTY

The Charlotte School of Law\, John S. Leary Bar Association\, and Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation are sponsoring a seminar entitled “Mental Illness &\; the Death Penalty\: Seeking a ‘Reasoned Moral Response’ to an Unavoidable Condition” on Friday\, October 20. Renowned capital defense attorney Bryan Stevenson of Alabama will be the keynote speaker. Former N.C. Chief Justice Burley Mitchell will also be speaking. Panels will explore the ways in which the criminal justice system misunderstands mental illness and harms our most vulnerable citizens.
