Filibuster broken on small business jobs bill

Heads up from Elaine Marshall:

Over the last few days, over 17,000 North Carolinians called on Senator Burr and his buddies in Washington to stop blocking the small business jobs bill. Thanks to those efforts, the Senate has now stopped Burr in his tracks and ended the filibuster!

Even though the bill does not add to the deficit and will account for 500,000 jobs, Senator Burr still voted against it - that just shows again why we have to retire him!

Of course he voted against it. His whole campaign is centered around obstructing progress and punishing the American people (including Burr's constituents) so they'll be desperate enough to trust the untrustworthy.

Here's more:

Two Republican senators, George V. Voinovich of Ohio and George LeMieux of Florida, joined Democrats in clearing a procedural hurdle for the bill by a vote of 61 to 37. That vote all but assured that the Senate will pass the bill later this week, and the House is expected to then put its final stamp of approval on the measure without delay.

Mr. Reid praised Mr. Voinovich and Mr. LeMieux for their support, and added: “This is not a victory for the Democratic Party. This is not a loss for the Republican Party. This is a win for the American people. This is going to help small business, which has always been the driver of jobs in our country.”

It is heartening to see bi-partisan support, especially when we know the principled Republicans in this case risk severe retribution at the hands of their party leaders. It is a sorry time our country when this kind of partisan gridlock continues to prevail. We can only hope Democrats will be more forgiving when one of us strays for conscienteous reasons.

Over time, if a party gets 90% loyality, or there about, it be OK. Heck, 93% is an "A" in most schools, and that ain't perfect. Can't adults be as tolerant to each other as they are to children?

In my campaign for the NC Senate District 15, rest assured I will be working for the right answer as much as a Democratic or Republican answer to the issues at hand.
