Floor speech on the 2006 Budget by Joe Hackney

In his position as Majority Leader, Hackney often delivered the summary for Democrats in floor debates. Here’s his speech at the end of the debate on the budget last year. Call it the straining-at-gnats speech and it has a funny moment with Paul Stam.

Straining at gnats

I love it.

And thank you SO MUCH, Kirk, for bring this over. I've just heard more from Joe Hackney in five minutes than I've heard in ten years.

Don't get me wrong, I like Joe. A lot. In fact, I empathize with him enormously. He's a quiet introvert who doesn't seem to enjoy crowds, who focuses on getting the work done instead of all the bull on the sidelines. He's going to be a great Speaker.

This audio should be used by Ed Ridpath in smacking down Stam for "straining at gnats." Very cool.

Thanks for posting this audio

I'm going to listen to it after the girls are off to school. We have an early morning this morning.
