Foxx to Host Telephone Townhall & You're Invited!

Virginia Foxx wants to hear from you, really. Okay, only if you're in the 5th district and probably only if you're a Republican. But hey, when did that ever stop a BlueNCer from participating? This morning I received this email from Ms. Foxx:

Healthcare town hall to focus on
constituent healthcare questions

You are invited to participate in a telephone town hall with me on Thursday, August 20 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. I will host a telephone town hall on the topic of healthcare reform for Fifth District constituents. You can call into the town hall meeting by dialing 1-877-850-4133 at 6:30 pm and entering the password F-O-X-X (3699).

We need sensible healthcare reform that is patient centered, not government-centered or insurance company-centered. In the midst of the national debate over healthcare reform many of you want to know what your government is up to with healthcare reform.

Get that? Healthcare reform needs to be "patient centered", because currently it's profit centered? I guess Ms. Foxx doesn't get enough contributions from the health industry to defend them in her emails.

Many North Carolina taxpayers are rightly demanding that Washington slow down the process and listen to their concerens. So I am looking forward to hearing Constituents' thoughts about the healthcare reform bills moving through Congress.

Really Virgina, really? Many North Carolina taxpayers are demanding that Washington slow down even more? I guess that 30 years of trying to reform the healthcare industry is just too fast for you. By the way, have you read any of the bills moving through congress yet?

When you call into the telephone townhall you will be connected to a live telephone townhall with me as well as other constituents in the Fifth District. Just call 1-877-850-4133 on Thursday, August 20 at 6:30 pm. All participants will need to enter a password for the call: the password is F-O-X-X (3699). After joining the call, you will be able to ask me questions about the healthcare reform or other issues on your mind.

You will be able to ask her, but I'm betting that if she doesn't like your question, it will be ignored.

Please join me on this telephone town hall. This will be a great opportunity for constituents to let their voice be heard on the important issues facing Congress regardless of where you live in the Fifth District.

It's funny that the Republicans have stirred up the uninformed so much that they won't hold meetings where they have to appear in person. Who are you afraid of Virginia?

with the Foxx herself.

Good luck keeping the FOXX on task and topic!

In a recent meeting, where she was physically present, she talked about frying squash for her husband and other BS until she made sure no one was going to attack her physically. I think I read that she brought extra police. So if the questions get tough, get ready for the squash talk!

Two questions for Foxx

Who would you prefer to have making decisions about YOUR end of life care ... profiteers in insurance companies or you, your family members and your doctor?

Congresswoman Foxx, why are you out there lying about the health care proposals being considered in Congress, specifically, why are you spreading lies about "death panels" that simply don't exist?

Healthcare is not a commodity!

There's a post on the rec diary list at Kos highlighting Anthony Weiner's appearance on Morning Joe's program earlier today. Please watch part I and part II of the videos. I watched both of them and am struck by a statement made by Mr. Weiner, "Healthcare is not a commodity". That's exactly it! Our healthcare is being treated by the industry and most of our legislators as a commodity to be traded for profit. It's worth the 15 minutes to watch him make a case that even Joe was impressed with.

The Funniest Signs protesting healthcare reform

Huffington Post has a funny diary up showing some of the funniest signs seen at these rallies brought out by the "ignorant and proud of it" crowd.
