Fred Smith Jumps the Shark

Evidently, Senator Fred hired Greenwood to write a song about him, one of the saddest things I've heard in a while. Greenwood's made a good amount of money wearing an American flag jacket and singing about America, which qualifies him to tell us who we should choose as our Governor.

So, here's his song, which really is a thing of beauty. It would be hard to describe the unintentional hilarity of this steaming pile, so I'll just let you check it out yourself:

In a way, Greenwood's "music" is a perfect metaphor for Smith's candidacy. Greenwood has a formula - flags, troops, purple mountains majesty - and all he has to do is swap around the pieces every now and then to get a new song. Smith, taking a page from the GOP playbook, does essentially the same thing. None of it means anything, mind you, either for Smith or for Greenwood, but they realize the power of these symbols and use them to mobilize people.

What a sad spectacle.

I suppose everyone gathered round to kiss Fredly's ring when all the bullshit settled. I can imagine Greenwood hammering out the same nonsense in every state . . . for a fee.

Fred sure knows how to get what he needs . . . he just buys it. What a class act.

Not.

Umm, A, your comment raised a question with me.

You said: "Fred sure knows how to get what he needs... he just buys it."

Meaning no disrespect, but how else would Fred get what he needs other than buy it? Should he wait for the government to take it from someone else and give it to him (i.e., public financing)?

[Yes, I know there is no PF for gubernatorial races, it was just an example.]

I don't know

but it seems like someone might want to volunteer to write a gushy love song for a candidate. Call me crazy.

It is called an endorsement.

It is called an endorsement. Grow up! Why can't the guy get anyone to endorse him without having to beg a newspaper? He's outdated, a joke and an embarrassment.

Oh yeah, I forgot

Make sure you click on the Greenwood link and check out the picture, in which Ol' Lee's jacket is the same color as his skin aaaaahhhh!

Fredly and Lee

Anglico,

You said it just right. Fredly had to pay, again, for someone to write a song for him, how funny. I see someone asked how else would he get it done...ever heard of endorsing a candidate???

Everyone please pay close attention to the lyrics. Lee uses the word "choice" to rhyme with voice when Fredly is hardly for choice. In Fredly's world he is the dictator and the only choice anyone has is how far to crawl up his...oops I don't want to go up their.

Seems to me that dear ole' Fredly, not too long ago, thought EDUCATION WAS A FEDERAL ISSUE. I believe if someone were to do just a little history on this fellow we would find that he has no clue what any job description is. Please checkout past speeches while running for Senator!

Is it legal and moral for any candidate to mail out a book about him/herself? I find it disgusting, self-indulgent and just plain wrong. If we don't currently have a law on the books for this one we better because this guy really believes that money will buy him anything.

Welcome

Great to have another ally in the war against the Dark Side!

Thank you so much for all

Thank you so much for all that you do. Yes, the Dark Side sent out his Fredly book and I am ready to fight. I have been a lurker for a while and am glad to jump in.
