Guilford GOP Chair: Being gay 'as natural as pedophilia'
Cross-posted from From MattHillNC.com | The Q-triad Blog
Marcus Kindley (pictured right), Chairman of the Guilford County (NC) Republican Party has hit an all-time low.
In a post on his blog, "The Chairman's Corner," Kindley compares being gay to pedophilia. Later in the post, Kindley says that our churches, the media and society have neglected to put a value on right and wrong by stressing the value of "personal decisions" stating that the same could be said for "murder, rape, sposal (sic) abuse, pedophilia, [and] incest."
In comparing gays to pedophiles, Kindley states:
We now say that homosexuality is ok. That it is natural. Yes it is as natural as pedophilia.
If it were natural then we wouldn’t be having a conversation about it, because there would be no procreation. It really is that simple. All the other studies and written articles are the justification for the actions of this group of individuals.
In this day in age, I find it astonishing that any self-respecting person in a position of such power and influence would stoop so low as to compare gay people to pedophiles. Why in the world is the (supposedly smart, educated and should be civil and polite) Chairman of the Guilford Republicans comparing peaceful, law-abiding adults who just happen to love other adults of the same gender to perverted people who are sexually attracted to (and more times than not abusive to) children? Does he not see the difference? How could he not?
Homosexuality is natural, something which Kinley evidentally doesn't believe as evidenced by his sarcastic tone. But so is pedophilia... the only difference is that homosexuality is not a major sickness or a mental illness, not to mention an illegal act and societal regurgitation cue, like pedophilia. Being gay also does not hurt anybody else, whereas pedophilia harms (mentally/psychologicall, physically, and spritually) the most vulnerable members of our world.
Kindley believes that homosexuality is un-natural simply because gay people cannot procreate, a belief that is common among the ignorant, homophobic and the Irreligious Wrong. Does this mean that it is un-natural for an opposite-sex couple to be together if one or both of the people in that couple are infertile? There is no procreation there, right? Is it un-natural for an opposite-sex couple to choose not to have children? There isn't any procreation there. Is it un-natural for people attracted to the opposite sex to remain celibate? Sure isn't any procreation going on there either.
To tell you the truth, I am outraged that Kindley would say such a thing. How can anyone in their right mind compare gay people to pedophiles? That hate attack is so old, so nasty, so low and just plain evil. I'm outraged to the point that I don't even know exactly what to say here. I guess "speechless" would be the best word to describe how I felt when I first read his words.
What is even more sad about this is that no one else (that I know of) has yet to speak out against what this man has said (although one commentator praised Kindley saying his post "resonates" with him and that he "longs for simpler times").
Gay people are not pedophiles. We are not sick. We do not hunt down your children for sexual pleasure. We do not get off on hurting and abusing the young and vulnerable. We are not pedophiles.
Kindley just doesn't stop at comparing gay people to pedophiles either. If you'll notice, he goes on to slam every forward move that gay people have made in society by saying every valid study and research done on the subject is nothing more than propaganda to "justify" our actions. What?!
Does Kindley really think that all of the scientific and psychological research detailing homosexuality as normal and natural is wrong and only a "tool" of gay movement? I guess he relies more on the consistently debunked and falsified "research" of such anti-gay and ex-gay "researchers" as Paul Cameron.
Gosh. I really don't know what more to say. I'm blown over. Looks as though homophobia, bigotry, hate and scare-politics are alive and well in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Marcus is, howyousay, not the brightest bulb on the string
I read his blog, and often wonder how he got into any kind of leadership position. I haven't read the piece you're talking about here, but in the part you quote there's at least one greivous logical error. Is he saying that if homosexuality is natural, that even heteros won't procreate? Or is he saying that if homosexuality is natural, then everyone must be homosexual? Either statement is just silly, and if he'd put much thought into what he wrote before he wrote it, he would have said something different. But he didn't.
This is the kind of thinking that results from surrounding yourself with people and situations that don't challenge your assumptions and your dumber ideas. Maybe Marcus should spend some time at BlueNC.
Or the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Chairman Marfusssssssss should just be thankful that the naturalness of being a unapologetic moron is not illegal.
Do good. Be nice. Have fun.
I blame Guilford county Democrats
If there is one Republican elected this year, after these remarks, then I blame Guilford Dems for not being aggressive enough. These remarks should be used against the Republican party in every way possible, including highly negative ads asking where the Republican party hatred stops? Don't forget, it used to be the African-Americans that received this hatred, now aimed at hispanics and gays. Perhaps our society needs a refresher.
Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

Robert, don't you know
Don't you know that many people in this country keep their positions based on adult ADD. It is critical to allowing the same status quo to remain in power.
A little more complicated
It's a little more complicated than you suggest, Robert.
A lot of voters share Kindley's beliefs, if not his extreme way of stating them.
And not many GOP voters are going to pull the lever for the other side because of the county chair's rhetoric.
That said, Guilford Dems have done well on Kindley's watch.
And he couldn't even win the GOP primary when he ran for county commissioner.
His blog is fascinating, in a train-wreck kinda way.
Oddly, he's a very nice, well-spoken guy in person, but his online persona is strange and probably a net benefit to the Dems.
"His blog is fascinating, in a train-wreck kinda way."
:) That's about right. It's like those movies on Spike late at night that are too bad to be believed and yet somehow too fascinating to be turned off. I watched one the other night (couldn't sleep) about Frankenstein's heart, irradiated in the nuclear bomb blasts in Japan, that grew into a stories-tall Frankenstein man-boy who ended up doing battle across the countryside with a giant fire breathing dragon (not Gojirra).
I think my point
is that this should be called what it is, today's version of a Klan hat. It's no longer feasible to hate blacks, so this group of "people" have moved on to hating gays and hispanics. This wing of "society" loves to hate, loves to have an enemy. It's sad and it's pathetic and it's gross and it's immoral.
