Hagan Votes with Burr on HR 627 Amendment

Senate Vote on H.R.627: Motion to Waive CBA Sanders Amdt. No. 1062; To establish a national consumer credit usury rate.

In a nutshell what was proposed was an interest rate cap on Credit Cards.

So while banks are free to get into mortgage backed derivatives, hedge funds and any other manner of unsavory business that would mar the credit of other businesses; they are still permitted to loan shark their customers for flippant reasons.

Thanks a lot Senator Hagan. This two-party electoral system should just be called "Dumb and Dumber."

How many of Hagan and Burr's constituents would

call or write and ask them to support usurious interest rates? The answer is ZERO!

I'm slow...really slow...but I'm coming to believe our elected officials (both parties) are so corrupt, stupid, arrogant, and/or worthless that it hardly matters what we citizens do or who we vote for.

In short, I'm about to decathect from politics in general and campaign contibutions specifically. It's absurd to care so much and then find you're screwed at every turn.

It is pretty hard to not get cynical about this. I noticed somehow I'd been involuntarily added to Larry Kissell's "Newsletter" email. No unsubscribe link. Sent from the House of Reps domain. Lame.

At last, the CRL takes a stance with what resembles a common sense approach; a call to action regarding something to do with the problem. (Now we have to deal with the horsemen, the rain of fire, and the end of days.) The CRL, or Center for Responsible Lending, has taken aim at credit cards by sponsoring HR 627, or the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009. The Credit CARD Act, as it's called, could ensure more fairness in how card companies deal with customers, and limit things like hidden fees and retroactive interest rate increases. President Obama is on board. The CRL not going after installment loans and targeting an actual predatory lender – it's about time.
