It is amazing to me that TCD started publication in 2004, it seems just like yesterday but when you realize Bush was reelected in 2004, it seems like forever!

This year we plan two new special series, usually one would be enough, but I am particularly sick of the Bush Administration and there is not much left to say about that bunch unless there is another "wide stance" moment. Look for new characters, new locations and a new look for the website. The layout is going wider, better and SHORTER! God love my blogroll!

Anyway, tomorrow we will be back to the grind of the campaign as Iowa will lay waste to many campaigns and grace the lives of a cherished few. My Iowa picks are John Edwards for the Dems - for the Repubs, I get the feeling Huckabee will eek out a win but barely. If he comes in second, it will be a squeaker.

That is all for today - I am off to nurse my hangover.

Happy New Year Stormy

Drink lots of water and go for a long walk. It helps me.....not that I have that many hangovers mind you.... hehe

Robin Hayes lied. Nobody died, but thousands of folks lost their jobs.

Vote Democratic, the ass you save may be your own.

happy new year -- what to do in 2008

So we are getting the precinct together for a "don't you wish you lived in a state that matters?" watch the New Hampshire returns Party. As I write this I think that I actually do live in a state that matters>!!! Turn NC Blue writing on Blue NC.

For many months I have pondered the effect on my precinct work of the various candidates. I have rehearsed and planned speeches about why we should work hard, regardless of who is leading the ticket. Liberals and Democrats and Progressives and Centrists...what is a democracy all about? having our own way? regardless most folks won't complain about the leading candidate but many will threaten not to work on getting out the vote, because of whoever wins the nomination was not their choice. and is evil, corrupt, stupid, etc.

I dread that part and I think it is inevitable that folks will balk at my attempts to get the precinct going.
and a recent article listed for me all the races in NC that will be in play and I determined to keep that article and give it to all the poll workers and canvassers and phonebankers and data entry ers etc.

There is too much at stake to allow any one Presidential nominee to keep us from showing up and working. And let's have fun.
When and if we have elected a Democrat to the White House, we all know we will be gnashing our teeth at the cop outs and sell outs and disappointments we will feel. But that is not going to be so bad after these eight years of frightening destruction.

TurnNCBlue

TurnNCblue - what a wonderful Idea.

North Carolina does matter, even if we will have little if no say as to who tops the ticket. Every other race is in play - and I wish I had thought to get my precinct together tomorrow. I may still try. Please let us know how that meeting goes.

I hear bitching and moaning from fellow officers in the party that if so and so wins the nomination, it won't matter what we do - can you imagine that? The whole point of organizing at a local level is to win at a local level. I think we're going to have some phenomenal candidates for county commission (fingers crossed), as well as a newly active teen dems group. Hopefully that energy will get us moving in the right direction.
