Helping Empowering Veterans Help Us
By now most of you will probably have read either this short post on BlueNC, or the initial post at DailyKos.
Well, I gave the guy a call, to talk about exactly what is intended and what is needed.
They need two big things.
The first is help with research. They want anything bad that Elizabeth Dole has done for veterans sent to them to incorporate onto their website. In other words, information on local vet hospitals that cant get funds, some local vet mad about her in the local paper, her dooming of pilots for John Warner over this OLF fight. All of that. Anything in your local paper that shows up is probably worth sending them a quick email about.
More important is they want our help getting the word out. The biggest thing is letters to the editor. This site has an excellent compilation of information and votes. I know most of you send a lot of letters to different papers, and I hope that the small town papers in places like Moore County and in the mountains will start carrying letters to the editor that include fun facts such as Dole's 0% ranking from 2004 on Veterans issues.
When you write a letter, if it is published it will be included on their info page about Dole. The goal is to do three things. First, get the word about Dole's record out to everyone in the state. Second, encourage people to find the truth by visiting the website (so include the address in your letter). Third is to create a collection on their webpage of angry letters from normal people covering local papers from Manteo to Murphy.
The website for the group is here.
You can contact the guy in charge by emailing: ralphparrott__at__cox__dot__net
I know that Robert is asking for a lot of help from people with Health Care and is asking for action from people, but you can do all of these and more. And, just as importantly, you can ask your family member's to help us out.
BlueNC is dedicated to making North Carolina a more progressive and prosperous state. If your intention is to disrupt this effort, please find somewhere else to express your opinions.

Ask for Action.
People respond when you ask them to do something, put out an action diary. I almost missed this diary with all the other things going on, but I would never have missed it with a big tacky Pink polka dot ACTION ALERT. Plus, we all dislike Dole, so that is a bonus.
Where are the candidates?
Jesus Swept ticked me off. Too short. I loved the characters and then POOF it was over.

NO OLF-ers
have a bunch of good stuff on Dole's selling out of active duty military. She wants to put a training facility for jets right in the middle of the worst location on the east coast for the risk of bird strikes. I hope Parmea and Susan will send their Dole files along.
I know they do
I was gonna tell him about OLF, but he was short on time. I am hoping that the people who know more about it and her involvement will help this group out.

This is Great!
gosh. i feel sorry for this woman.
Blue South, any word from Brad Miller about when he's gonna announce his bid to trounce this woman?
actually...
...I don't have too much pity for the war-mongerer
The word
from those that talked to him this weekend is that he is too busy using his new power in the majority to really think about it. Still isnt saying no, but he also isnt spending any time exploring it as far as I know.

Booooo...
...well, if you're ever up in DC and would like to pay him a visit (or if I can ever help from here) let me know!
I think we should just let him know that he'll also have majority status in the Senate.
Do you know the PVI of his district? Its a safely Democratic one?
peace,
JW
Its a little hard
because he has been there the whole time the seat has been, which is only since 02. And, I cant find any of my normal resources right now. However, I would think its a fairly safe seat. Not 100%, but safe enough that I wouldnt be worried about holding it if he left to run against Liddy.
