How many taxpayer dollars did the GOP pay to gerrymander NC voting districts?

You don't really want to know

Quite a difference!

From that link:

In the 2001 cycle, run by Democrats, the cost to taxpayers was about $157,000 in inflation-adjusted 2011 dollars.

In the 2001 cycle, said party spokesman Walton Robinson, Democrats raised private money to pay for the legal fight over the partisan maps they drew. He said Republicans should have done the same.

“They’re just using the taxpayer as a cash register,” Robinson said.

Just think, County Commissioners could be getting updated equipment and better trained poll workers and more early voting hours for a big election from qualifying for the HAVA funds from the Feds with the extra money spent on this redistricting, rather than having it has an unfunded mandate from the state.

We should have had nonpartisan redistricting when the Dems are in charge, we should of had it now that the GOP is in charge, and we need it going forwards. But it does irk me to think we are so close to qualifying for HAVA funds, and missing out on it for money wasted on things like this. =/

New voting districts

That is a whole lot less than the Democrats spent over the last 50 years gerrymandering the voting districts to make sure they stayed in power. You just have to understand the party that controls the house and senate in a census years gets to create districts that help their candidates. Both parties do it, and both parties spend what ever they need to in order to get there. You need to look at the big picture, being naarrow minded will get you nowhere.

If you find it so despicable figure out how to change the system, just complaining accomplishes nothing. Good luck!
