I voted "often"
but I need to shift to "sometimes." Most days, the comments I find make are uniformly depressing. I worry about the future of America when I find myself surrounded by so much purposeful ignorance and/or sheer stupidity.
Same here
I try to keep telling myself the comments are not a good sampling of the population. But then I hear people I know (or thought I knew) making some of the stupidest observations about science, society, race relations, etc.
Excerpt from the middle of a conversation I had recently:
"You need to cut down a little bit on the Fox News."
"That's not the only news show I watch."
"Okay, cut down on Fox and Pat Robertson."
"He's been right a lot more times than you have."
"That ain't sayin' much, pal."
"Well, there you go."
"There you go."
Some good-natured, borderline-violent male-bonding ensued, which I won, but only because (supposedly) he had an inner-ear infection, which threw off his equilibrium. So now, every time he gets within 5 meters, I'm going to have to switch over to ninja mode, because guys don't forget that shit.
Politics is hard.
One of my church "friends" invited me to leave the country.
I think he's a little chagrined now. Probably not, cuz he wouldn't understand the word. His diatribe on FB was a lesson in adult illiteracy. Anywho...I'm still laughing. Thought about buying and sending him a dictionary and highlighting all his misspellings and the word "bigot." Then, I thought, why bother?
What has amazed me about this election are the people I thought I knew who are rabid Romney supporters. There's no talking to them. Point out the lies and they just ignore it. Talk about GOP obstructionism or their treatment of women's issues, equal pay, etc., and they ignore it. Talk about Romney's saber-rattling and the possible consequences...ignore it. The deal is...they hate Obama. I mean HATE.
Well, truth be told, I despise Romney equally as well. I've irritated a lot of people. Candiidly, I don't much care. I've said it before...if they get what they want, I hope they get it good and hard.
