How Stupid Is Brian Nick?

Yesterday I reported that gubernatorial wannabe Bill Graham has chosen an up-and-coming loser to be the brains behind his campaign to take over the governor's mansion. Today the News and Observer follows up with more brilliance from the boy wonder.

Nick will also be senior strategist for N.C. Conservatives United, which is Graham's political committee. But that committee is likely to morph into Graham's gubernatorial campaign if, as expected, he announces for governor.

The move by Nick could generate more gossip that Dole does not plan to seek a second term in 2008. But Nick says that is nonsense. "She is fully committed to running," Nick said. "Honestly, the fact that rumors come from the Democratic Party should tell you what they are worth. That is wishful thinking." (emphasis added)

Anybody with half a brain, which obviously excludes Nick, knows that progressive Democrats in North Carolina totally support the Very Senior Senator running for reelection. We can spot losers a mile away, and these days, they're like fish in a barrel. Which only goes to show how little Brian Nick understands politics here in the Old North State.

But come to think of it, Brian Nick apparently doesn't understand politics anywhere based on his sparkling record of inane comments. He also doesn't understand that joining Bill Graham's campaign for governor is like climbing into a hearse on the way to the cemetery.

This is going to be very entertaining

I love the fact that he has a track record we can use against him.

Did Brian call the wrong Graham in his escape from DC?

Mainwhile in the high smokey mountains in western North Carolina. A secret religious retreat meeting was going on at Black Temple Mountian.

Dad!* Franklin Graham

Yes son* Rev Billy Graham

I just read in the Conservative Voice paper that you are running for Governor of North Carolina and hired a Republican political consultant from Senator Dole staff in Washington* Franklin Graham

What the Jesus? * Rev Graham

Your're not having those senior Moses moments again are you Dad?* Franklin Graham

Great Architect! Let me pray on it for a moment and think. Wait a Judas minute! I had a young man call me last week and said he was answering an ad in a paper about a job cutting down trees on the back 40 for firewood this coming winter season. I told him that the job was still open and he could start right away as along as he could provide proof that he was legal citizen of America. He said something about the Dole fruit company was his former employer and claim he had a legal golf cart driver permit from Bunkport Maine and the State of Washington for carrying a bb air rifle* Rev Graham

What happen than Dad?*Franklin Graham

I told him he could start right away and cut down the 4 big Oaks first in the front yard, before the State Tax collector adds them to my property tax this coming year. And not to forget to bring a plastic gas can with him for the power chain saw and be sure to fill the gas can up first at the local 24/7 with those discount Wal-Mart coupons for the gas.* Rev Graham

Oh my Dad! You have just hired a kid with no insurance to work on the property. * Franklin Graham

Oh well! It is in God hands and if a tree falls on him, we can always blame it on that former Russia Congressman who use to live in this district..Charlie,,,something or another????,,,,,what was his name???? * Rev Graham

Dad! If the kid does not work out, can we shove him on somebody else! * Franklin Graham

Sure! What was the name of that stupid lawyer from Saliberry or Mayberry, that bought those 3 million Bibles we had in the warehouse. Remember! We had them printed up with StarWar words and terms in case the Space Alien Lizards land here with that Devil Vator leading them * Rev Graham

I am going to make sure that the local media does not know about us hiring him. * Franklin Graham

My New GOP Theory

And this story may lend credibility to it.

The GOP upper echelon is full of idiots (that is the fact part) but idiots don't like to feel stupid, so their gather underlings who are just as stupid or more so. This is done, I believe so those in the higher ranks don't feel threatened by, you know, smart people.

And the middle ranks of idiots populate their staffs with truly crazy people and so it goes.

Graham is one of those sycophants - a DOLE one at that.

Truly tragic and funny at the same time. The Three Stooges made a career out of those kinds of antics.

Dole is Done...

I agree totally that when Brian Nick speaks with bravado about Sen. Dole he is merely trying to divert press attention from the fact that he's shivering in his nickers.

Sen. Dole's main source of criticism these days is not the Democrats. That criticism is coming loud and constant from Republicans themselves who are exorcised about their loss of the Senate. They see "Ol' Mrs. Dole," the outgoing chair of the Republican Senatorial Committee, as a scapegoat because of her abject failure to raise sufficient campaign contributions.

This outcry has been muffled in North Carolina out of discretion to one of our own who embarrassed herself while out of town. Yet the national press has not been nearly so discreet. It's obvious that in terms of her national Republican influence, "Dole is done, gone the sun, from the lake, from the hills, from the sky..."

If Sen. Dole does decide to run again in '08 what Democrats will find to run against is a diminished politician, underfunded and without the allies of old.

I'm 56 years old. I moved to North Carolina five years ago. The previous twenty-five years I spent as a resident of Chicago's north shore and before that Wisconsin, Utah and California. I live in Moore County. My Congressman is Howard Coble, my State Sen

one can only hope...

Election Night Update
By Mark Stephens, Executive Director
Tuesday, November 07, 2006

Hey folks,

The NRSC is feeling very positive about recent election night developments, and I’d like to share them with you.

An early projection based on faulty exit polls in Maryland prematurely declared Ben Cardin the winner. But with 45% of precincts reporting, Republican Michael Steele is LEADING Ben Cardin 51%-47%! The Washington Post, which also called this race for Cardin early, has taken back their call. This race is going to be a nail biter, and Michael Steele has pledged to stay in the fight to the end.

In Virginia, George Allen is leading Jim Webb by about 13,000 votes with only 3.4% yet to report. This race is closer than close, and it will certainly be a long night in Virginia. Like Michael Steele, George Allen will see his fight through.

In Missouri and Tennessee, early results show that Jim Talent and Bob Corker are leading their Democrat opponents. And as I write this blog entry, CBS has just called Arizona for Senator Jon Kyl!

I am sure we will have more good news to share as the evening progresses, so stay tuned!

Sincerely,

Mark Stephens
Executive Director,
National Republican Senatorial Committee

DEMOCRAT PARTY? I CAN'T STAND IT!

It just drives me up the wall when I see the word "Democrat" used in this way...

...Jim Talent and Bob Corker are leading their Democrat opponents.

The correct form of the adjective is "Democratic," It always has been, and it always will be!

The Republican effort to reinvent English and turn it into an enemy of its own meaning, just drive me nuts.

This is not a mistake by people who don't know better. None of this is cavalier or accidental. It's all done very much on purpose, deliberately and with discipline. This black art even has its own special guru, the infamous Frank Luntz. Courtesy of his linguistic advice, a bill to diminish civil liberties became "The Patriot Act." "The Estate Tax," was rechristened the "Death Tax." A bill to allow increased emissions of carbon dioxide was entitled "The Clear Skies Initiative." Etc, etc and etc...

That's bad enough, BUT WHAT DRIVES ME RIGHT UP THE WALL is the effort to disassociate the "Democratic Party" from its own name by re-labeling it the "Democ-RAT Party."

We allowed a perfectly good word like "liberal" to be hijacked and denuded of its meaning. It became so radioactive that many "progressives" won't even touch it now (let alone the politicians they vote for.)

God help us if we allow these masters of double speak to mangle and maim the good name of our own glorious party.

I'm 56 years old. I moved to North Carolina five years ago. The previous twenty-five years I spent as a resident of Chicago's north shore and before that Wisconsin, Utah and California. I live in Moore County. My Congressman is Howard Coble, my State Sen

My true label ...

is Liberal, because I'm a social Liberal.

I call myself "Progressive" in mixed company just because the knee-jerk to "Liberal" can be pretty stifeling out here in the hinterlands of Johnston county, and because I'm fiscally a solid moderate.

I believe that taxes are the dues I pay to live in a safe, free, civilized society. (C. dog taught me that.)

I believe gov't should spend money on public initiatives. If something gov't does works very well, no amount of money is too much to spend on it ... like public schools ... environmental regulations ... safety regulations, etc. But if something starts looking like a blackhole -- gobbling up money and giving few returns -- it might be time to make some adjustments.

But it's true and we all know it -- Liberal has been made into a dirty word by the conservative punditocracy. The battle, however, is not lost. In an effort to begin the de-toxification of the term "Liberal" in my own little corner of the world, I have the following printed in big letters, landscape layout, and hanging in my office:

If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people - their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspiscions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a Liberal.

Of course, that's JFK. I find that quoting Jack shuts both the angry reactionary neo-con and the traditional conservative up pretty quick. Noboby talks junk about JFK.

"They took all the trees and put them in a tree museum Then they charged the people a dollar 'n a half just to see 'em. Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got till it's gone? They paved paradise and put up a parking lot."

what was said in 2005

This is a pretty humorous discussion of the 2006 elections, way back in 2005. Nick as well as other Rep and Dem operatives give their take on the "upcoming" election.

Isn't that a hoot!

That's where I found some of the choicest quotes from Brain Nick. These partisan pundits sure must be glad they don't have to make a living doing real jobs.
